Summary

The purpose of this position is to catch live chickens in a chicken house and properly place them in draws at a specified rate so that they can be transported to the plant for processing. Individuals will also be required to assist in Pasturebird house construction and other on-site construction projects

Position will pay $16.00 – $18.00/hr. based on previous experience. This is a full time position.

Principal and Essential Duties & Responsibilities

Catch 3 to 4 chickens in each hand. Place 20 to 25 chickens per minute in a drawer. Place chickens in drawer without harming the chickens. Place 10 to 12 chickens in each module. Assist in Pasturebird house construction and other on-site general construction projects. Ability to use power tools. Must be able to drive forklift. Adhere to all safety requirements including PPE, preventing and reporting unsafe acts and conditions, Lockout-Tagout and Process Safety Management.

Minimum Education

Strong reading, writing, math, and analytical skills are required, and a High School diploma or GED preferred.

Experience Requirements

Must be able to use power tools and drive forklift.

Experience Preferred

Prior experience with poultry and/or chicken catching or farm experience preferred.

Environmental Factors and Physical Requirements

This position requires 2 to 4 hours with 4 to 6 repetitions per minute in a single interval. Variable temperature exposure. Ambient dampness exposure. Walking or standing on all types of surfaces. Chemical exposure to carbon fuel fumes and <5 PPM of Ammonia vapors. Cotton gloves required to be worn as personal protection equipment and device. <1 hour of walking with 1 to 3 repetitions per minute at a maximum distance of >100 ft distance on all types of walking surfaces. 2 to 4 hours of standing with variable mobility. This position requires 2 to 4 hours of constant sitting. This is required 2 to 4 hours of bending with 4 to 6 repetitions per minute at a maximum forward angle position and <2 degrees maximum backward angle. Maximum side angle of 10 to 20 degrees. This position requires <1 hour of twisting with 1 to 3 repetitions per minute. This position requires <3 0 degree maximum forward angle. This position requires 2 to 4 hours of lifting with 4 to 6 repetitions per minute. The maximum weight lifted is 40 to 60 lb maximum weight lifted. Floor level height of starting position, Final position of height of lift is 0 to 6 inch. Up to 3 to 6 inches extension reach during lift/ Variable body position. This position requires 2 to 4 hours of reaching with 4 to 6 repetitions per minute.
