GENERAL SUMMARY:
Under the general direction of the Director of Ambulatory Pharmacy Services, Pharmacy Training Specialist will assess, develop, administer, maintain, and track training programs designed to strengthen employee development and provide further career path opportunities within the organization. Pharmacy Training Specialist will maintain the flexibility to work at various pharmacy locations as needed to accommodate the training needs of the department.
PRINCIPAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:
- Develops, coordinates and conducts training programs using in-house resources, vendors, regulatory and licensing agencies and on the job experience in order to support multiple training needs for staff development.
- Conduct training needs assessments for all new hires and existing employees through on-site evaluations and consultations with management.
- Prepare course benchmarks (such as review courses, quizzes, and exams) for various student programs, including Pharmacy Tech Trainee Program.
- Responsible for coordination and preparation for student rotations, both employee interns, as well as non-employee externs.
- Partners with Pharmacy IT for software-based testing on Pharmacy related software products to ensure safe practices in the marketplace.
- Responsible for evaluation of current training process and making any changes necessary for growth of Ambulatory Pharmacy Training Program.
- Leads by example, exhibits Team Member Standards of Excellence at all times.
- Confers with all levels of management and customers regarding training services provided. Meets with appropriate management and Human Resources as needed to facilitate training. May serve on various committees and work process improvement initiatives.

KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS AND ABILITIES REQUIRED:
- High School Diploma or GED
- Pharmacy Technician (PTBC) Certification and State of Michigan Pharmacy Technician License required
MINIMUM EXPERIENCE:
- At least three years of progressively more responsible experience required in a leadership or employee development role.
- Minimum of one year of experience with process improvement, re-engineering and the changing activities of a complex organization along with a comprehensive understanding of customer service is required.
- Computer skills in Microsoft applications are required.
