Join us.Job DescriptionPorts & Maritime is a key focus area for AECOM with substantial growth potential. The team is a part of our Surface Transportation, Aviation & Ports UK&I Sector which sits within the number one rated global Transportation engineering consultancy. The UK & Ireland team is seeing significant ongoing investment opportunities to service the defence, freight, port terminal operator, cruise and offshore wind sectors, as well as drivers to improve efficiency, decarbonisation, application of digital solutions and improved surface connectivity.We are delivering some of the biggest and complex infrastructure port projects worldwide for some of the largest companies in the world. Currently, one of our landmark projects is New Doha (Hamad) Port project Qatar, which is a US$7 billion greenfield port development where AECOM are a Project Management Consultant. We are also working for a list of major global clients such as DP World and APMT in UAE, Morocco, Pakistan, Mexico and Ghana and have just been awarded the global Shell Early Implementation Works (EIW) framework.To support our growth strategy for this sector, we are seeking a strong market sector leader. You will have a growth mindset and understand the power and importance of client relationship management and leverage the wider AECOM business to be able to craft and create the solutions that our clients increasingly demand. You will understand the challenges our clients face and turn our current and existing clients into trusted long-term relationships working with a strong and capable team. We are looking for someone who will inspire our clients and our team alike to exceed and outperform in our sector.Responsibilities:Direct, develop and grow our Port & Martime consultancy and infrastructure design services across UK&I and Europe, Specific responsibilities include:
- Manage and build the team reflective of the long-term growth and service proposition strategy.
- Build the order portfolio across the UK&I and Europe with existing and new clients.
- Develop a Business Plan that fully reflects the market growth potential and position AECOM as the premiere Ports & Maritime consultant in UK&I by market share and reputation.
- Identify key clients and key pursuits. Prepare key client management plans and key pursuit plans, maintaining a strong and achievable pipeline of opportunities.
- Develop and maintain existing client relationships looking to build trusted advisor status across key clients.
- Help to grow the team, along with coaching and developing the teams’ skills
- Lead major pursuit proposals.
- Leverage the wider AECOM network and other business lines to enhance capability and work winning strategies.
- Implement and maintain AECOM international standards of project delivery, quality, programme and budget.
- Oversee the delivery of large complex and multidisciplinary Ports & Maritime engineering projects.
- Support the wider global Transportation Business Line in the identification, winning and delivery of major projects in the UK&I and Europe.
QualificationsExperience & Qualifications
- Technical Experience: Significant experience in Port & Maritime planning, design, engineering and construction at a senior professional level.
- Project Management and Delivery: Previous experience in leading multi-disciplinary project teams and delivering projects to required quality standards, on time and within budget. Experience and understanding of project quality control, programming and budgeting.
- Business Development: Previous experience of developing and maintaining client relationships and work backlog with new and existing clients. Experience with consultancy contracts.
- International Experience: Experience with international clients and partners and /or working in an international setting.
- Team Management: Previous experience of team management and team building.
- Consultancy Experience: Able to demonstrate a strong client and stakeholder network within the Ports & Maritime industry which will translate into winning and delivering Port & Maritime projects in the consultancy sector.

- Communication: Excellent presentation and communication skills in English (written and verbal). Excellent report and proposal writing skills.
- Client Relationships: Ability to develop new client relationships and to strengthen existing client relationships. Ability to identify, understand and focus on client’s key requirements.
- Commercial: Commercially astute, clear understanding of setting and working to business development goals, use of consultancy contracts, profit and loss.
- Team Leadership: Strong team leadership skills. Ability to lead a technical design team (building/civil) and to mentor and develop staff. Ability to manage staff resources. Self-starter, proactive and entrepreneurial.
- Team Player: Strong team player, ability to work closely with colleagues and get the best out of the team.
- Delivery: Commitment to delivery of quality output, on time and to budget. Ability to fully engage with projects and an ‘eye for detail’ when required.
