By focusing on examining and applying innovative vivo approaches to study functional and dysfunctional neural circuits in animal models, your work will contribute to the advancement of precision therapies for psychiatric and neurodegenerative disorders.Key Responsibilities:

  • Perform vivo neurophysiological experiments, implementing and validating novel technologies for the collection and analysis of EEG/brain circuit mapping data in rodents.
  • Access and implement combined EEG/MRI recording modalities with external collaborators in preclinical imaging.
  • Independently plan, organize, and prioritize work to ensure timely delivery of results.
  • Provide high-quality reports of analyzed results in a timely manner, ensuring data integrity and tractability.
  • Problem solving skills, with the ability to identify and address challenges proactively.
  • Possesses exceptional critical thinking skills, including curiosity, creativity and innovation, data analysis and interpretation.
  • Ability to build and foster collaborative relationships, providing guidance and facilitating effective communication within the team.
  • Strong interpersonal skills, with the ability to motivate and engage team members.
  • Fosters a positive and collaborative team culture, promoting open communication.
  • Solid communication skills, both written and verbal, to convey insights clearly and concisely.

Qualifications:

  • Ph.D. degree with working knowledge in neuroscience, electrophysiological tools in academia or pharmaceutical industry.

Experience and Skills:

  • Experience with in vivo neurophysiology/electrophysiology techniques (EEG/LFP electrode implantation) recording and analysis.
  • Knowledge with single or multiunit electrophysiology recordings is highly desirable.
  • Knowledge in histological procedures, brain stimulation, optogenetics and/or neuroimaging would be a real plus.
  • Experience with advanced computational signal processing methods such as MATLAB, Python, ICA, source localization, or other analytic methods for studying electrophysiological data is highly desirable.
  • European certificate for animal experimentation (FELASA B or higher) is required.
  • Demonstrated record of superb scientific writing skills, excellent interpersonal and presentation skills, and team play.
  • English language proficiency required.
