Prime Quality Agri-Business Intern

Primary Purpose

To experience Mountaire’s culture first-hand and provide additional exposure of Mountaire’s family-oriented work environment. Fulfill all designated duties within each specialized area of operation for the duration of the internship. This program is intended to provide learning opportunities by working hands-on with mentors and completing assigned projects. The Intern’s primary focus is around developing and implementing strategies to optimize commodity sourcing, purchasing, and selling. This includes providing recommendations to enhance profitability through a review Proft & Losses statement or identifying market arbitrage for commodities. There will also be opportunities to participate in local Wheat harvest through operational and logistical improvement.

Primary Project

  • Obtain experience in global commodity market analysis, trading, product marketing, and flows.
  • Assist in evaluating changing domestic crop and market conditions in real time.
  • Learn about the agricultural industry and the nuances of grain marketing.
  • Develop valuable skills in data-driven decision-making and project management.
  • Collaborate with experienced commodity professionals and exposure to various commodity markets.

Major Duties & Responsibilities

  1. Completes assigned tasks identified by department mentor.
  2. Attends semi-monthly seminar series.
  3. Completes and presents summer project presentation.
  4. Completes internship evaluations at weeks 5 and 10.
  5. Follows all company safety policies, standard operating procedure (SOP) regulations, as well as supports the Goal Zero mission statement.

Qualifications

  • Must be currently enrolled and pursuing an Associate or Bachelor’s degree at an accredited college or university.
  • Valid Driver’s license.
  • Must pass the Mountaire Motor Vehicle Record check.
  • Proficient in Microsoft Office applications including Word and Excel
  • Serious interest in the field of Agri-Business (Economics, Analytics, Finance, Contract Mgt., Logistics, Grain Merchandising, Grain Facilities Mgt.)
  • Excellent math skills, Excel formula creation and technical writing skills
  • Work in a team environment, introduce new concepts and interact with seasoned professionals.
  • Ability to quickly learn and understand processes and data.
  • Current driver’s license and reliable vehicle to travel to various Mountaire grain facilities (50-mile radius from Millsboro, DE – mileage reimbursement will be provided).
