That’s how we support some of the UK’s most recognisable brands to grow and develop.What you’ll be doingAs a Principal Actuarial Analyst, you will report into our SME Squad and provide actuarial technical expertise, producing insightful analysis and recommendations to the managers and internal partners, to support Reserving, Capital Modelling, Forecasting, Monitoring and associated business decision making.

• Plan, manage specific broad and complex tasks and projects in a pro-active, and accurate manner, providing insights; lead specialised investigations, produce reports and contribute to the delivery of presentations to internal partners.
• Research and build models for specific tasks for reserving or for other uses, ensuring that these use appropriate techniques and data and are efficient, high quality, documented and verifiable. Perform reviews and consideration of the outcome of the analysis prepared by Analysts; propose reasoned and viable outcomes/results to Category managers.
• Present areas where improvements may be made enabling tasks to be completed in a more efficient manner; demonstrate awareness of the teams’ requirements to improve modelling and data processes.
• Work with peers in other areas of the business to help communicate the work carried out by Corporate Actuarial, and to build individual knowledge of wider company processes.
• Review work, considering the outcome of the task; provide feedback and build opportunities for learning in daily activities.
• Maintain awareness of, and comply on an ongoing basis, with the requirements of relevant professional/legal/regulatory/risk management frameworks, e.g. Technical Actuarial Standards, IPL, SOX, PRAIS, SII & UK GAAP requirements.
• Reinforce the culture and core values of Direct Line Group through appropriate behaviours and actions; Build relationships and business network with colleagues in other departments.

What you’ll need

• Nearly or newly qualified actuary
• Analytically and technically minded
• Previous reserving and capital modelling experience
• Programming (SQL, R), reserving and capital software experiences are desirable
