ERM is seeking a motivated Principal Consultant – Product Stewardship & Regulatory Affairs to work within our Seoul, S Korea office. The ideal candidate will join our Global Product Stewardship team of over 250 professionals in the major geographies and provide program management and senior technical delivery services for clients nationally and internationally. Our Product Stewardship service helps clients to optimize business value supporting product compliance, mitigating risk, and creating market opportunities throughout the product life cycle.
ERM’s global network of environmental, health and safety scientists and regulatory experts offer strategic and tactical support to clients across a variety of industry sectors, including manufacturing (both durable and consumer products), chemicals, pharmaceutical/health-care, mining, agri-chem, and hi-tech.
RESPONSIBILITIES:
- Provide technical and program leadership, quality assurance on active projects and opportunity pursuits in the chemical, pharmaceutical, consumer products, food, agri-chem, mining, and hardware product risk and regulatory compliance projects, such as:
- EU REACH, ROHS
- OSHA, GHS and country-specific Hazard Communication Standard (HCS) compliant product Safety Data Sheets (SDSs) and labels
- Battery, e-waste, packaging, and medical waste product stewardship program support
- Lifecycle and product environmental and social footprinting projects
- Product energy efficiency and water conservation certification and labeling
- Product lifecycle assessment, product environmental, and social footprinting
- Supply-chain single-use plastics reduction or elimination
- Supply chain full material disclosure, component compliance, sustainability, and transparency support.
- Lead Technical community and client account manager knowledge and competency training events in key product stewardship service areas.
- Support client account managers and lead client F2F engagements developing and tailoring our product stewardship services to meet client-specific needs.
- Programmatically drive projects and provide quality technical reviews of written reports, including data summaries, exposure and effects assessment, risk assessment calculation and summary tables, and preparation of report text.
- Elevate ERM’s brand in the product stewardship thought leadership space with membership and leadership in product stewardship organizations.
- Develop ERM thought leadership white papers and FAQ’s that support account team engagements with key clients.
- Lead multi-year projects involving client-based supply chain data systems to engage suppliers, populate product component material compliance data, and generate reports.
- Work with ERM’s Information Solutions team to deliver fit for purpose systems and services tailored to clients’ product stewardship needs.
- Oversee multiple projects within client’s scope/budget/schedule expectations and ensure quality standards on project deliverables.
- Build strong client relationships as well as collaborative relationships with other ERM employees in other technical disciplines for effective integrated service solutions.

REQUIREMENTS:
- MS or PhD in chemistry, biology, public health, toxicology, chemical engineering, mechanical engineering, or other relevant disciplines.
- 10-15+ years of relevant experience in industry or consulting.
- Professional certifications a plus (e.g. DABT).
- Familiarity with key country product safety regulations.
- Familiarity with IT systems in the product stewardship space.
- Strong technical skills using Microsoft Excel, Access, or similar data management tools.
- Strong team leadership experience and commitment to team dynamics with the ability to contribute expertise and follow leadership directives at appropriate times.
- Excellent verbal, written, and interpersonal communication skills in Korea, good in English
- Ability to succeed in a consulting paced environment, handling multiple project assignments, and maintaining flexibility, while meeting strict deadlines.
- Excellent quality delivery, collaboration, and problem resolution skills to drive technical and business success on projects with key clients.
