Principal Network & Network Security Governance Specialist – Individual Contributor

Role Overview:

We are seeking an accomplished Principal Network & Network Security Governance Specialist with 15–20 years of experience in IT infrastructure operations. This individual contributor or principal-level role is responsible for the governance of Managed Service Providers (MSPs) delivering network and network security services. The role requires a strong understanding of network infrastructure, security threats, and the use of automation and AI tools to drive monitoring and operational efficiency.

You will work closely with MSPs, internal IT leaders, and architecture teams to ensure contractual adherence, drive continuous improvement, and facilitate effective operational handovers.

Key Responsibilities:

• Lead governance of MSP deliverables related to:
  • Network operations and security
  • LAN, WAN, Wireless, VoIP, Telecom infrastructure
  • Application and infrastructure network monitoring
• Ensure MSPs meet all contractual obligations, SLAs, and KPIs through structured governance forums and performance reviews.
• Identify opportunities for efficiency gains in network operations using automation, AI-driven monitoring tools, and process standardization.
• Collaborate with internal stakeholders to:
  • Develop and maintain SOPs, knowledge bases, and process documentation
  • Improve MSP reporting and stakeholder presentations
  • Ensure seamless handovers from IT design and architecture to operations
• Provide guidance on network security threat landscape, risk mitigation practices, and operational responses.
• Support ISP circuit provisioning, including:
  • Failover design and management
  • Identification of automation opportunities for provisioning and monitoring
• Act as a key interface between IT infrastructure, cybersecurity, and enterprise architecture teams to ensure alignment.

Key Skills & Expertise:

• 15–20 years of experience in IT infrastructure operations with a core focus on network and network security
• Deep technical and operational knowledge of:
  • LAN/WAN, Wireless, VoIP/Telecom, SD-WAN
  • Firewalls, NAC, IPS/IDS, and modern network security frameworks
  • Network observability and monitoring tools (e.g., SolarWinds, AppNeta, ThousandEyes, NetBrain)
• Strong understanding of security threats, vulnerabilities, and incident response processes
• Experience with MSP governance, contract compliance, and service improvement planning
• Proven ability to drive automation and AI-enabled solutions within network operations
• Excellent documentation, communication, and executive reporting skills

Preferred Qualifications:

• Certifications: CCNP/CCIE, CISSP/CISM (for security), ITIL Foundation or Practitioner
• Experience with ISP and carrier provisioning, circuit redundancy/failover strategies
• Familiarity with scripting or automation tools (Python, Ansible, etc.)
• Exposure to Zero Trust Network Architecture (ZTNA) principles and SD-WAN transitions
