Purpose of the Role:

The Procurement Manager will set the overall procurement strategy for their category and manage a team consisting of buyers and administrators to ensure product is sourced and delivered at the right price, at the right time with the right quality.

Key Accountabilities & Responsibilities:

  • Setting a sourcing strategy that ensures best supply service level against our demand forecasts. This will include the ongoing development of our supply base with the introduction of new supplier and regions annually.
  • Developing strategic supply chain plans to ensure availability of product.
  • Growing the category sales through the offering of NPD, improved availability or support on promotional offers.
  • Growing the category profitability through the delivery of competitive pricing.

· Managing category team against daily tasks and annual KPIs.

  • Daily communication with stakeholders, colleagues and management with regard to profitability, availability of stock and supply forecasts.
  • Customer relationship management. This included daily communication on supply outlook, price negotiations, promotional support and regular presentations.
  • Development of contingency strategies to protect the supply chain.
  • Negotiate best possible pricing from supply base.
  • Work with Keelings Group Commercial Team to leverage group buying power for improved pricing/ terms.
  • Contract creation and management for key suppliers.
  • Inventory control and stock level management.
  • Other tasks/ duties set out by HoD.

Key Performance Indicators (KPIs):

  • Landed cost of product to the back door.
  • Category turnover and profit.
  • Service level/ availability.
  • Stock residency/ range.
  • Waste.

Key Skills & Knowledge

Essential:

  • Negotiation skills.
  • Previous buying experience.
  • Ability to work on own initiative on project based tasks.
  • Attention to detail and proven problem solving skills.
  • Results orientated.
  • Strong administration skills.
  • Highly numerate and analytical with ability to interpret data.
  • Excellent IT skills e.g. MS Excel.
  • Ability to build relationships and deal with customers and suppliers in a courteous and professional manner.
  • Flexible and resilient.

Desirable:

· Experience within fresh produce or FMCG industry highly desirable.

· A minimum of 4 years working in a senior procurement role.

· CIPS qualification or equivalent.

Education & Qualifications:

  • 3rd level qualification in Procurement, Business, Sales or related discipline.
