Overview of position:
The position is within the liquidation entity at Bamako.
The Property Disposal Assistant reports to the Chief of Unit in Bamako.
The Property Disposal Assistant at this level assists the Chief of Unit on management of all the property operations of the entity, including property control & inventory, property disposal.
The Property Disposal Assistant will efficiently & effectively assists the Chief of Unit in the management of property, receiving, controlling & the disposal of UN property in the entity.

Within limits of delegated authority, the Property Disposal Assistant will be responsible for the following duties:
Assist in organizing & planning the disposal of all written off materials, fixed assets, equipment, expendables / consumables & waste materials.
Participate in the inspection of assets recommended for write off as a member of BOS together with PMU & TS’s representatives.
Ensure all disposal procedures for UN equipment & hazardous waste are correctly applied in accordance with UN rules & regulations and UN environmental policy.
Assist in segregation, classification & storing of property & hazardous waste in property disposal yard.
Participate in physical verification of equipment & materials in PDU yard & ensure hazardous waste are managed in environmentally sound manner.
Update property disposal database & prepare discrepancy & incident report.
Assist in the preparation of PDU regional weekly report.
Prepare property release voucher, disposal certificate, gate pass & release materials approved for final disposal.
Ensure records of all support documents for disposal are kept in both electronic & hard copy.
Arrange & manage property or income generating waste approved for disposal by sale in lots.
Assist in the preparation of task order for contractor & corresponding sales order in UMOJA.
Support in organizing the PDU yard.
Coordinate collection of waste with the contractor based on KPI’s in the contract.
Assist in procurement process through participating in bidders site visit.
Perform any other duties as requested by the supervisor.

Project reporting:
This role will report to the line manager.

Key competencies:
At least four years of experience in logistics, supply chain management, property management, engineering, waste management, environmental policies or related field.
A minimum one year of experience in the use of an ERP for management of inventory (e.g. SAP) is desirable.
Experience providing services to or in a field operation of the UN common system or a comparable international organization is desirable.
Experience in supply chain management or logistics operations during liquidation of a large field operation is desirable.
Experience in business intelligence & data analytics / visualization is desirable.
For the position advertised, oral & written fluency in English language is required & working knowledge in French is highly desirable.
Knowledge of the regulatory framework governing the disposal of property during liquidation of an operation. Analytical capacity & proven business process management & project development skills. Ability to apply analytical skills in a wide range of statistics on logistics & property management support operations & formulate proposals for corrective actions. Shows pride in work & in achievements. Demonstrates professional competence & mastery of subject matter. Is conscientious & efficient in meeting commitments, observing deadlines & achieving results.
