Apply today.The Role.GMC are currently looking for an experienced Public Communications Officer to join our team.The Public Liaison Officer will play a pivotal role in managing and enhancing relationships between GMC Utilities Group, the public, and other stakeholders. This position involves overseeing strategic communications, crisis management, and community engagement to ensure the smooth execution of projects and the maintenance of a positive public image.Key Responsibilities:
- Project Management: Coordinate public liaison activities related to ongoing projects, ensuring effective communication between the project team and the community.
- Crisis Communications: Develop and implement communication strategies to manage public perception during crises, providing timely and accurate information to mitigate negative impacts.
- Crisis Management: Act as the first point of contact during crises, coordinating internal and external responses to manage incidents effectively.
- Marketing Management: Oversee marketing initiatives that support project goals and promote the company’s services, ensuring alignment with overall strategic objectives.
- Direct Marketing: Design and implement direct marketing campaigns targeted at specific community groups to foster engagement and support for projects.
- Community Engagement: Develop and maintain relationships with local communities, addressing concerns, and promoting positive interactions through regular updates and meetings.
- Public Affairs: Engage with public officials, regulatory bodies, and other key stakeholders to influence public policy and advocate on behalf of the company’s interests.
- Strategic Planning: Collaborate with senior management to develop strategic plans that align public engagement activities with the company’s business objectives
The Candidate: Required Experience and Competencies:
- Full clean driver’s license essential.
- A relevant qualification is desirable..
- Proven experience in public relations, communications, or a related field, with a strong emphasis on crisis management and community engagement.
- Excellent project management skills, with the ability to manage multiple tasks and meet deadlines.
