Role Overview: As a Quality Improvement Engineer, you will play a pivotal role in maintaining and enhancing our Quality Management Systems and Processes. Reporting directly to the Departmental Manager, and as a key member of the Quality Team, you’ll take ownership of systems, products, and processes to drive improvements. The role demands effective communication with customers, suppliers, and internal teams to resolve quality-related issues.
Key Responsibilities:

  • Customer Quality Compliance: Ensure all customer quality requirements are met during the manufacturing process.
  • Issue Resolution: Quickly and effectively address internal and external quality concerns using continuous improvement methodologies such as PDCA and 8D to ensure total customer satisfaction.
  • Production Oversight: Make informed decisions on line stoppages when quality issues arise.
  • Product Evaluation: Perform dimensional evaluations to confirm compliance with CAD and drawing specifications.
  • Sample Approval: Manage the Sample Approval process for new products, including PPAP and FAI documentation.
  • Quality Audits: Conduct internal and external audits to identify and implement continuous improvements within the company and its suppliers.
  • Quality Planning: Develop quality plans for new products, including patrol, in-process, and final release inspections, while supporting the continuous improvement of Manufacturing Process Sheets (MPS).
  • KPI Monitoring: Track and measure quality performance indicators.
  • FMEA Management: Oversee the FMEA process, identifying opportunities for system improvements using Lean Manufacturing principles.
  • Training: Collaborate with operational and management teams to enhance quality awareness and provide necessary training.
  • Health & Safety Compliance: Adhere to all Health & Safety procedures.
  • Additional Duties: Undertake any other tasks required to fulfill the role’s responsibilities.

Qualifications and Skills:

  • Experience/Education: HND/Degree or at least 3 years of experience in a similar role within the manufacturing sector.
  • Problem-Solving: Strong ability to identify issues, determine root causes, and implement robust, sustainable solutions.
  • Customer Focus: Ability to respond quickly and effectively to both internal and external customer needs.
  • Technical Knowledge: Proficiency in 8D, FMEA, Control Plan, APQP, and PPAP. Familiarity with IATF 16949 & ISO 9001 standards.
  • Attitude: A positive, proactive approach with excellent communication skills and a strong team-oriented mindset.
