Position Overview

Today’s professional Scouters are a diverse group of men and women sharing a dynamic career offering independence, achievement, and stability. This is work that makes a difference, maintaining facilities, property, and equipment to ensure efficient and safe operations in support of BSA programs.

The Ranch Technician is responsible for providing care and maintenance over property in accordance with the specified Ranch Technician option reporting to the Supervisor Facilities Services. This role performs general maintenance duties at the facility including, but not limited to, trail clearing, mechanical assistance, trash clean up, minor and heavy equipment operation, and landscape maintenance, maintains and assists in repairs of equipment, roads, and campsites and may provide care. The Ranch Technician works on all phases of land.

Responsibilities

  • Assists with maintaining the facility, roads, forests, and surrounding property. Follows safety standards and procedures.
  • Maintains and uses minor and heavy equipment and works with contractors and seasonal staff as required.
  • Works with contractors and seasonal staff.
  • Performs other job-related duties as assigned.

Job Competencies:

Knowledge of: Facility, property, and equipment maintenance; safety standards and procedures.

Skill in: Maintaining property landscape, road, and campsite maintenance.

Ability to: Pay attention to detail; manage time; communicate effectively; work in a team; problem solve.

Education

High School Diploma or GED equivalency.

Qualifications

  • Must pass a criminal history background check.
  • Must be willing to wear appropriate safety gear, including boots, gloves, and protective clothing while performing duties.
  • Valid State Driver’s License (in good standing)
  • Minimum of 6 months of experience in related field:
  1. Equipment Option: Must have prior experience performing any combination of tasks involving preventive maintenance and repairs (scheduled and unscheduled); land maintenance and/or grounds work or other related skills trade work.

Licenses

  • Pesticide Applicator Certification may be required for Equipment Option.
