Job Description:School of Engineering, College of Science & EngineeringInstitute/Discipline: Institute for Integrated Micro and Nano SystemsUE07 £39,347.00 to £46,974.00 per annum.Contract type – Fixed term for 24 months,Full Time – 35 hours Per WeekNumber of posts: 1The Opportunity:This Research Associate position will contribute to the Centre for Electronic Frontiers (CEF) within the Institute for Integrated Micro and Nano Systems at the University of Edinburgh, which is funded by EPSRC and in collaboration with colleagues at Imperial College London and University of Manchester.This position is also affiliated with a prestigious Royal Academy of Engineering Chair in Emerging Technologies held by Regius Chair of Engineering Prof Prodromakis, Director of CEF. The appointee will support the delivery of the vision of this 10-year programme that aspires developing Embedded AI Hardware solutions for Lifelong Learning applications.This post will involve the development of integrated circuits (IC) for a wide range of embedded AI hardware applications such as AI accelerators, autonomous sensors, biomedical implants, robotic systems, adiabatic computing, and hardware security modules, etc. It will also involve validating and demonstrating the performance of the developed ICs in solving real-world problems.This role is UE07 and is available on a fixed term basis initially for up to 24 months.A full list of main responsibilities and the knowledge, skills and experience required for the role can be found in the full job description below.Your skills and attributes for success:

  • A PhD in Electronics, or an undergraduate/master degree plus industrial experiences as a senior IC designer.
  • Proven track record of research or industrial experience in analogue and mixed-signal IC design.
  • Experienced with EDA design flows; has one or more successful IC tape-outs and is experienced with IC testing.
  • Capable of working collaboratively with researchers from different disciplines or technical background, able to develop and maintain effective working relationships.
  • Capable of working independently, exercising a high degree of initiative and demonstrating a pro-active and flexible approach to work.
