About usThe UCL Institute for Global Health (IGH) is at the heart of UCL’s Grand Challenge of Global Health. IGH aims to support the development of robust solutions to aspects of the world’s major global health challenges through scholarly outputs, education, public engagement, translational research and ultimately by influencing public policy and professional practice.We are seeking a highly motivated researcher with experience in qualitative and/or mixed methods public health research, process evaluation, project management, and a strong interest in working across disciplines as part of an international collaboration.The successful candidate will join PROACT EU-Response (A European Proactive Adaptive Clinical Trials Network within EU-Response), an ambitious 60-month project funded by the European Union under HORIZON Research and Innovation. PROACT aims to strengthen Europe’s pandemic preparedness by consolidating upon existing networks of experts and civil society to establish therapeutic platform trials for respiratory viruses within hospital inpatient settings across Europe.About the roleThe successful applicant will join the Social and Implementation Science Work Stream (led by UCL) which comprises a team of social scientists across Europe. This Work Stream will conduct formative work to understand the current context of clinical trials (including focus groups and interviews with key stakeholders and communities), and) and will undertake a mixed methods process evaluation of the pilot trial when it opens, to ensure trial design is optimised.PROACT is one of several new projects in interdisciplinary approaches to (re)emerging infections in the department. The postholder will join and benefit from a growing group of clinicians, co-producers, epidemiologists, modellers and social scientists working in this area at a national and international level.This is a full-time role (i.e. 36.5 hours per week) and it is available immediately until 31 December 2029.A job description and person specification can be accessed at the bottom of this page.Salary range: £43,374 to £51,860 per annum (including London Allowance), depending on experience.If you have any queries about the role, please contact Dr Shema Tariq on .If you need reasonable adjustments or a more accessible format to apply for this job online or have any queries about the application process, please contact the IGH HR Team on .About youIt is essential that the successful candidate has a PhD or equivalent substantial working experience in relevant discipline (e.g. public health, medical anthropology, medical sociology, mixed methods, implementation science).The successful candidate will have experience in qualitative research (focus groups, interviews) and they will also have experience in project coordination/management.The ideal candidate will have experience in implementation science research and experience in infectious diseases, pandemic preparedness, and/or clinical trials.The role requires that the post holder is fluent in more than one Western European language.What we offerAs well as the exciting opportunities this role presents, we also offer some great benefits some of which are below:
