- We are seeking a driven and ambitious Senior Agile Product Owner with a strong background in large scale Programme Transformation, Technology Delivery and Core Banking to drive the delivery of the bank’s strategic credit products to our customers. The role will report in to the Tribe Lead for Core Banking, and the Head of Delivery for the Customer Credit Transformation Programme.
- The Senior Agile Product Owner is responsible determining the overall vision, priority and delivery roadmap of what is to be built across the Core Banking Tribe, and the Customer Credit Transformation Programme.
- As a Senior Agile Product Owner, you will be responsible for managing the delivery of core banking solutions across various Agile squads. You will coordinate efforts among multiple teams, facilitating collaboration and ensuring alignment on project goals. You will regularly be required to problem solve and unblock teams so that we deliver the best product we can to our customers.
- Your role will require you to create, manage and track multiple plans across Tribes, and to report on a regular basis to senior level business stakeholders right up to ExCo level.
- This role requires someone who is cost focused and has experience managing multi-million euro investment programmes.
- Your responsibilities will include managing technology vendors & vendor solutions, as well as multiple bank partners.
- The Senior Agile Product Owner is a member of the Tribe leadership team and is expected to contribute to leading, coaching and motivating a team of c.150 people.
- Governance is a key part of this role, and as such you will be responsible for all status & steering reporting, RAIDs, financial management, scope & change management.
Key accountabilities:
- Define and communicate the product vision and strategic roadmap for Core Banking products, aligning with Tribe Leads and squads, whilst also leaning on outside influences and industry best practices.
- Be a part of Tribe leadership, creating an atmosphere of confidence and trust. Instil passion and expertise, coaching & motivating squads and other team members. Facilitate collaboration to ensure positive outcomes across the Tribe.
- Lead the strategic decision making for Core Banking products, and define best practices which best support delivery of our roadmap.
- Define and manage the Core Banking delivery plans across the Tribe and squads. Unblock larger impediments within the Tribe that may impact delivery across squads by finding solutions to deal with complex problems, pain points and potential opportunities.
- Exercise influence at all levels of the company to achieve internal and external stakeholder alignment to develop and implement their product portfolio strategy and to ensure dependencies are managed or removed where possible.
- Regular Tribe & Programme reporting at all levels from weekly project statuses to multi-workstream Programme Steering, and up to AIB’s ExCo.
- Co-ordination of solutions and delivery plans from other Tribes needed to deliver an end to end solution for our customers.
- Foster collaboration between functional and technical leads to translate product requirements into robust technical solutions, ensuring alignment with AIB’s Technology strategy.
- Strong focus on risk management required with demonstrated ability to anticipate and work towards mitigating risks.
- Contribute to the on-going digital transformation, helping to develop/mentor Agile Product Owners and peers on best practice within the organisation.
- May have people leader responsibilities for Agile Product Owner.
- May play the role of Chapter Lead – aligning best practices across the PO community and tribe.
Minimum criteria:
- Bachelor’s degree in Business, Computer Science, Finance, or a related field; Master’s degree preferred.
- Minimum of 10 years of experience as a Delivery Manager/Senior Agile Product Owner, preferably in the banking or financial services sector, with a focus on overseeing multiple teams.
- Proven Project Management skills and the ability to manage plans and budgets for large scale projects.
- Ability to communicate the Product vision to all relevant levels, clearly articulating the evolution of product.
- Possess a fundamental understanding of end-to-end customer experience integration and dependencies.
- Proven experience working in Agile environments.
- Strong analytical and problem-solving abilities, with a data-driven mindset.
- Familiarity with product management tools (e.g., JIRA, Confluence) and Agile methodologies.
- Ability to thrive in a fast-paced, dynamic environment and manage multiple priorities.
- 10 years + in a similar IT role
- Experience of working in Core Banking environment preferable
