Senior Cloud Network Engineer – Physical Network

We are looking for a creative and hard-working Senior Cloud Network Automation Engineer in Azure Hyperscale Physical Network team. • Works with appropriate stakeholders to determine user requirements for a set of features.
• Contributes to the identification of dependencies, and the development of design documents for a product area with little oversight.
• Creates and implements code for a product, service, or feature, reusing code as applicable.
• Contributes to efforts to break down larger work items into smaller work items and provides estimation.
• Acts as a Designated Responsible Individual (DRI) working on-call to monitor system/product feature/service for degradation, downtime, or interruptions and gains approval to restore system/product/service for simple problems.
• Remains current in skills by investing time and effort into staying abreast of current developments that will improve the availability, reliability, efficiency, observability, and performance of products while also driving consistency in monitoring and operations at scale.

Required Qualifications:

• Technical experience in network design, development, and automation
  • OR Bachelor’s Degree in Electrical Engineering, Optical Engineering, Computer Science, Engineering, Information Technology, or related field AND technical experience in network design, development, and automation.
  • OR Master’s Degree in Electrical Engineering, Optical Engineering, Computer Science, Information Technology, or related field AND technical experience in network design, development, and automation
  • OR Doctorate Degree in Electrical Engineering, Optical Engineering, Computer Science, Information Technology, or related field.
• Experience in networking, scripting, and software development. Familiarity/hands on experience with any network device operating systems (Sonic, Arista, Cisco, Juniper)
• Cisco CCNA (or equivalent) and experience with Linux/Unix operating systems and Windows servers
• Experience with writing automation in languages such as Python, Powershell or C#
• Experience with writing scripts that use REST APIs, Syslog, xml, SNMP, and other Network Management Systems

Other Qualifications:

• Ability to meet Microsoft, customer and/or government security screening requirements are required for this role. These requirements include, but are not limited to the following specialized security screenings:
  • Microsoft Cloud Background Check: This position will be required to pass the Microsoft Cloud Background Check upon hire/transfer and every two years thereafter.

  • OR Doctorate Degree in Electrical Engineering, Optical Engineering, Computer Science, Information Technology,
  • OR related field AND technical experience in network design, development, and automation and experience delivering network designs into production and experience with live site accountability for a network.
• Knowledge of TCP/IP fundamentals along with a basic understanding of IP networking MPLS, BGP, ISIS, OSPF and Anycast routing
• Experience managing and troubleshooting network issues. Experience working on large scale networks.
• Leadership, coordination, and teamwork skills. Ability to work independently on complex tasks.
• Motivated to drive leading edge technologies. Understanding of TCP/IP, BGP and AnyCast
