Senior Farm Equipment Operator

Middle Tennessee Research and Education Center

Located in Spring Hill, Tennessee

Must be able to work weekends and holidays 

Job Description

• Performance of duties will be within the agriculture production unit
• Operate general purpose, specialized farm, and heavy power equipment
• Perform basic servicing and maintenance of equipment
• Perform farm labor in support of research and agricultural operations
• Assist poultry unit leader during daily operational tasks and critical production periods
• Assist poultry unit leader manage emergency events
• Assist with livestock beef production/feeding
• Perform other duties deemed necessary by director

Qualifications

Required Skills

• Knowledge of agriculture operations
• Ability to operate and service specialized agricultural and heavy equipment
• Ability to recognize equipment and maintenance problems
• Ability to record data related to equipment maintenance and service schedules
• Ability to perform agricultural/manual labor in inclement weather conditions
• Ability to work directly with livestock and associated production practices
• Ability to work well with others on a daily basis
• Self-motivated individual

Qualifications

• High school diploma or GED
• Bachelor’s Degree Preferred

Other Conditions of Employment Required to perform essential functions of this position 

• Valid Driver’s License
• Willingness to obtain pesticide application certification
• Willingness to obtain a commercial drivers license

Experience

• Minimum 1 year farm experience which can include pre-graduate work experience on family or other farm/ agricultural enterprise.
