Our client is a prestigious international law firm with a presence in over 20 countries worldwide. The firm assists clients in a wide range of sectors, including technology, media and communications, life sciences, financial services and real estate. The Brussels teams are specialised in commercial, corporate, employment, IT, IP/Data Protection, payments, finance regulatory and tax law.
The firm in Brussels office counts around 40 lawyers. To further develop the Commercial & Litigation department, they are looking for a Senior Associate to join the team of 6 Commercial Lawyers to work with international prestigious clients (retail sector, fashion sector, entertainment sector but not only).
As Senior Member of the Commercial & Litigation team, your responsibilities will be the following :
- Provide expert legal advice and strategic guidance on a wide range of commercial law matters.
- Draft, review, and negotiate complex commercial agreements such as distribution contracts (franchise, exclusive distributorship, agency, etc.), commercial lease contracts, transfers of business, trade practices (publicity, commercial promotions, brands), antitrust (vertical restrictions), GDPR and intellectual property issues.
- You will assist a large number of local and foreign distributors to set up their development strategy
- Conduct thorough legal research and analysis to support clients in making informed business decisions and resolving commercial disputes effectively.
- Collaborate closely with cross-functional teams, including partners, associates, and clients, to develop innovative legal solutions tailored to meet the unique needs and objectives of each client.
- Represent clients in commercial litigation, arbitration, and other dispute resolution proceedings, advocating for their interests with integrity and professionalism.
- You speak French and English fluently. Dutch is a plus
- You have a master degree in law from a Belgian University with excellent academic results. A LLM is a plus.
- You have at least 5 years of relevant experience as lawyer in commercial law with interest in the retail sector (distribution, commercial leases, litigation)
- You have excellent communication and writing skills;
- You enjoy working in an international environment

- You are able to find the right balance between legal accuracy and pragmatism
