We have exciting opportunities for Senior Mental Health Practitioners, to join our team based at St Johns Court in Exmouth.There are two posts available, 1 full time post (37.5 hours pw), and 1 part time post (22.5 hours pw).You will be based in Exmouth at St Johns Court, though as a team we cover all of East Devon and there may be times when you will be required to work out of an alternative base within our area.You will be responsible for managing and directing the care of some of the most vulnerable people we are responsible for, many of whom will have complex and ongoing needs. You will use your skills and experience to deliver person centred care, which inspires hope & recovery. You will have direct experience of working with older adults in a community mental health setting for this role.You will play a key role in a multidisciplinary team, working with multiple agencies on a daily basis. You will be confident working without supervision, with the knowledge to devise individual recovery plans for the people you see. We will help the right person progress within this role, and we will provide a range of training opportunities that can help you develop the skills you need to thrive in this role.Main duties of the jobYou will be able to demonstrate specific examples of how your involvement has improved patient care & experience, and how you have influenced teams to deliver high-quality care. Personally, you will be a clear and confident communicator, capable of interacting and working effectively with people who use our services, their families & carers, staff and stakeholders from all backgrounds.You will be expected to manage a caseload of older adult clients, and provide evidenced based interventions for the patient, their carers and families and other professionals that may be involved.There will be an expectation to cover duty across the service, which will involve managing urgent enquiries, and advise.You will be required to provide assessments for patients with both functional and organic illnesses.About usAbout Devon Partnership TrustWe provide mental health & learning disability services, as well as a range of specialist & secure services for the wider south west region & nationally.   • An understanding of the Mental Health Act/ Mental Health Capacity Act requirements.
  • An understanding of the CPA Process
  • Understanding of community structures and Health and Social Care Agenda for Older Adults
  • Understanding of recovery principles in Mental Health
  • Understanding of the organic presentations in Older People
  • Excellent communication skills including the ability to engage with clients experiencing a wide range of mental health presentations.
  • Ability to communicate with a wide range of professionals from various settings.
  • Able to produce well written reports.
  • Able to participate and present information in a group setting
  • Able to recognise potential difficulties and participate in finding solutions Ability to assess and develop plans to manage risk.
  • Excellent clinical assessment skills.
  • Ability to manage change in a positive manner.
  • A willingness to use and learn IT Systems ,e.g. Electronic Record Keeping

QualificationsEssential

  • A professional mental health qualification and registration e.g. RMN, Social Work Degree or equivalent, BSc/Diploma in OT, SROT

Desirable

  • Chartered Clinical Psychologist, ENB 811/812 or Community Nursing Degree
  • Non-Medical Prescriber and/or another recognised therapy qualification
  • Post graduate qualification relevant to specialism Clinical Supervision qualification
  • Training to level 3 in Safeguarding Adults and children and young people: roles and competencies for Health Care staff

ExperienceEssential

  • Substantial experience of managing an extensive and complex caseload of clients with a range of complex mental health presentations.
  • Experience of delivering model based psychological therapy

Desirable

  • Working within a community mental health setting in either the statutory or voluntary sector. Providing clinical supervision.
  • Experience of working in a multi-disciplinary and multi-agency environment.
  • Participation in user involvement in services.
