About the role (External)
You will provide architectural leadership and technical assurance for the planning, specification and design into production of element and network management systems (E/NMS).
The role will lead as a technical authority for Telecoms Operations and develop the technical service strategy for the E/NMS systems to support Telecoms Operations’ business strategy.
You will also provide a consultancy service around new technology, new service definition and service introduction.
This role will drive forward innovation, consolidation and a whole life cycle approach to E/NMS systems technology. This will need to consider and address integration issues and verify the ongoing availability of all architecture components through the development and management of capability and technical road maps for E/NMS systems.
- Identify, innovate and help drive the technical roadmap for the E/NMS systems to facilitate the provision of in-life “fit-for-purpose” technologies to enable Telecoms Operations services.
- Support the Telecoms Operations new technology introduction (NTI) process for new or changes to existing controlled telecoms E/NMS technologies that require Product Acceptance under the terms of NR Standard NR/L2/RSE/100.
- Provide and maintain the design principles & architecture guidance for the E/NMS systems and service offerings.
- Support the development of new E/NMS Services as required by the business by approving the new service design and assuring that the service design conforms with the architecture principles and business continuity requirements.
- Maintain the overall Platform Architecture for the E/NMS systems and recommend improvements and additions to improve the performance, flexibility and resilience of the platform.
- Provide architecture consultancy to Telecoms Operations network design, projects, solution consultants and customers as required.
- Identify E/NMS platform opportunities for the implementation of technical improvements that add value to the business through achievement of ‘better, faster, cheaper’ platform infrastructure, based on current and future requirements.
- Work in conjunction with approved suppliers to understand the lifecycle of E/NMS technologies and the impact of obsolete technologies to support a technical roadmap that conforms to the requirements specified in the Telecoms Asset Policy.
- To keep up to date with future product vision and industry frameworks and translate desired capabilities/modifications to the platform strategy to drive good practice and innovation.
How to apply (External)
Essential
- Substantial experience in E/NMS system engineering within a Telecoms environment.
- Solution and technical architecture expertise with E/NMS platforms and knowledge of supporting operational support systems (OSS).
- Understanding of protection security architectures.
- Delivery of complex E/NMS network integration & services.
- Experience of knitting industry good practice with business requirements to build an architecture strategy.
- Substantial experience in IT infrastructure requirements analysis and design for E/NMS systems.
- Educated to degree standard or equivalent in a technical subject.
Desirable
- Knowledge of network design and operation supporting Rail or Critical National Infrastructure (CNI).
- Experience of implementing networking protocols, including TCP/IP, DNS, DHCP, SNMP, MPLS, NETFLOW
- Experience in architecture and integration with following applications: Solarwinds, Netcool, Cramer, Nokia E/NMS, Cisco Prime
- Experience of architecture and business architecture tools (Lean IX, ArchiMate)
- TOGAF, ITIL or TM Forum certifications and experience embedding in business
- Project management certification (e.g. PRINCE2).
