Senior Network Automation Engineer

Overview

GovCIO is currently hiring for Senior Network Automation Engineer in support of Customs and Border Patrol Enterprise Network Architecture and Engineering Support Services (CBP ENAESS). This position will be located in Ashburn, VA, and will be onsite with flexibility to work remotely.

Responsibilities

The Senior Network Automation Engineer for CBP ENAESS will engineer, deploy, and enhance a CBP Enterprise Network Management System that is simple to maintain, compatible with network technologies deployed throughout the enterprise network, and scalable. They will act as a Subject Matter Expert (SME) and provide guidance, recommendations, and technical advice to assist with the planning for future GFE tools and capabilities. They will streamline network operations by automating routing tasks, providing centralized visibility or control, reducing manual efforts required to troubleshoot network outages, and automate fail-over solutions.

Qualifications

Bachelor’s with 12+ years (or commensurate experience)

Required:

• Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science, Engineering, Information Systems, related field, or minimum of two (2) years relevant programming experience.
• Strong knowledge of network engineering with a focus on network automation.
• Strong knowledge of networking protocols, such as TCP/IP, BGP, OSPF, EIGRP, MPLS, and VLANs.
• Proficiency in network automation and orchestration tools, such as Ansible, NetBox, or SaltStack.
• Hands-on experience with SDN technologies such as Cisco ACI or VMware NSX.
• Expertise in programming languages, such as Python, JavaScript, or Ruby, for scripting and automation purposes.
• Experience with API integration and RESTful services for interacting with network devices and platforms.
• Knowledge of network monitoring and performance tools, such as SolarWinds, Nagios, or PRTG.
• Familiarity with cloud platforms and services, such as AWS, Azure, or GCP.
• Strong understanding of network security principles and best practices, including firewalls, VPNs, and access control.
• Excellent problem-solving and analytical skills, with the ability to troubleshoot complex network issues.
• Strong communication and collaboration skills, with the ability to work effectively with cross-functional teams.
• Demonstrated ability to manage multiple projects and priorities in a fast-paced, dynamic environment.

Preferred:

• Experience with Python Flask or FastAPI is desired.
• Industry certifications, such as CCNP, CCIE, JNCIP, JNCIE, or Network Automation certifications are desired.
• Successfully passed CBP Background Investigation (BI).

Posted Pay Range

The posted pay range, if referenced, reflects the range expected for this position at the commencement of employment, however, base pay offered may vary depending on multiple individualized factors, including market location, job-related knowledge, skills, education, experience, and internal equity. The total compensation package for this position may also include other compensation elements, to be discussed during the hiring process. If hired, employee will be in an “at-will position” and the GovCIO reserves the right to modify base salary (as well as any other discretionary payment or compensation program) at any time, including for reasons related to individual performance, GovCIO or individual department/team performance, and market factors.

Posted Salary Range

USD $125,000.00 – USD $195,000.00 /Yr.
