The role of the Senior Network Engineer is to take operational ownership of the services that are being offered to Optus Enterprise customers in the form of Managed Network and Data Centre Services. This position reports to the Operations Manager but will be available to assist other Teams within the Optus Enterprise Technical Assistance Centre when required to do so.

The principal purpose is to provide resolution management, problem management, change management and implementation work. You will be responsible for troubleshooting to resolve complex faults, identify and remediate the root cause of incidents via problem management methodology as well as scope and implement complex changes within managed Network environments. You will be involved with the configuration and Patch Management of network equipment by a range of strategic vendors such as Cisco (incl Data Centre ACI/ APIC), Aruba and Riverbed. You will ideally have demonstrated extensive knowledge and experience in design, solution build/ implementation of Networking solutions as well as assisting and complementing the mid to junior level engineers.

Your day to day will consist of…

  • Meet or exceed customer service SLAs.
  • Take ownership of customer issues escalated to you and update the incident manager and customer as appropriate.
  • Manage workflow to ensure Major Network or Sensitive Customer Faults are prioritised.
  • After hours work is completed as rostered and scheduled.
  • Complex MACs and Transitions are completed as scoped and in the timeframe that was committed to the customer.
  • Adhere to our processes and procedures including Change process, Transition process, incident and problem management processes.
  • Develop, support or improve scripts that will benefit Ops and Engineering.
  • Work with transition team to ensure all new solutions to transitioned are checked for reliability and all documentations are available for ongoing support.

Skills required and what we are looking for

  • Must be an Australian Citizen to be eligible for Government Security Clearance. Having Baseline Clearance already is prefered.
  • Support/configuration of Cisco core technologies including Data Centre ACI/ APIC and Patch Management
  • Support/configuration of Dynamic routing protocols – BGP, OSPF and EIGRP
  • Scripting Skills (Python and/ or Ansible)
  • Strong experience working in a managed services or support role in an operational area.
  • Escalation management and advanced problem solving
  • Technical expertise in the design, implementation and support of systems applied to large customer installations
  • Sound understanding of network data encryption
  • Strong understanding of network security technologies
