As a Senior R&D Manager, you will play a pivotal role in driving the development of innovative products within the Interventional Pain Therapy area. Reporting to senior management, you will lead a large engineering team, working cross-functionally within the Organisation Unit (OU) to develop strategic plans and build a strong product pipeline. This is an exciting time to join our client, who is leading the way in providing new, minimally invasive treatment options to more patients globally.Key Responsibilities
- Lead and Inspire: Guide, develop, and motivate a diverse, high-performing engineering team focused on designing and developing state-of-the-art transcatheter medical devices and procedures.
- Strategic Leadership: Contribute to strategic planning and partner with internal and external experts to maintain and enhance clinical and technical expertise.
- Organisational Growth: Participate in the ongoing development and scaling of the organisation, ensuring the skillsets required to deliver predictable outcomes are in place.
- Cross-Functional Collaboration: Foster relationships across multiple sites and functions in a large, matrixed organisation.
- Project Management: Oversee the achievement of project objectives and milestones, managing complex and undetermined outcomes using strong engineering and clinical judgement.
- People Management: Manage senior engineers and other managers, ensuring career development plans are in place and actively mentoring and coaching direct reports.
- Resource Management: Oversee the functional cost centre budget and resource allocation, aligning with company policies and procedures.
- Innovative Solutions: Drive the generation of novel and unique solutions to both engineering and organisational challenges.
Qualifications and Experience
- Educational Background: Level 8 Degree in Engineering or a related discipline is required; a Master’s/PhD is preferred.
- Professional Experience: Minimum of 10 years of relevant direct engineering experience within a similar environment, with at least 3-5 years of managerial experience in a progressive leadership role.
- Industry Expertise: Experience in the medical device market, ideally within orthopaedics or product development in the spine area, with a proven track record of success.
- Leadership Skills: Strong team-building, communication, people management, and leadership skills, with a dynamic and proactive approach to working within a global team environment.
