About the Thomas Coram Research UnitThe Thomas Coram Research Unit (TCRU) has a long history and expertise in researching children and families, including those most vulnerable to economic and social adversity. Our work influences theoretical debates and public policies on: early childhood; children’s health, care and education services; children’s agency; young people’s identities; intersectionality; reproduction; motherhood and fatherhood; gender equality; family diversity; poverty including food poverty; parental leave; place-based inequalities; children’s language brokering; transnational families and practices; social pedagogy; work-family reconciliation; migration experiences.About the roleYou will join a new team investigating the impact of co-locating welfare advisory services with health appointments for newborn children. The team is formed to deliver a large NIHR public health funded, three year project called Healthier Wealthier Families in East London that is pioneering ways of ameliorating the cost of living crisis on families with very young children.About youWith a PhD in public health, sociology or social science or a related area of study, you will have skills and experience in research project management, implementation of interventions, and in qualitative research e.g., ethnography and co-design.You will be excited to make a difference to families’ lives and committed to the communities of East London.This post is offered from 1st September 2024 to 31st August 2027 in the first instance.Due to the nature of the duties of this post, DBS clearance will be required.Your application form should address all the person specification points and should clearly demonstrate how your skills and experience meet each of the criteria.It is important that the criteria are clearly numbered and that you provide a response to each one.
