Learn more atWe are seeking an experienced, highly skilled, and motivated analytical and separation scientist to join our team in Beerse, Belgium as a Senior Scientist in Discovery Chemistry. In this laboratory-based position, the successful candidate will provide high throughput purification to support medicinal chemistry efforts, with a particular emphasis on peptide projects. This includes purifying compounds from focused chemical libraries or singleton samples at µg to grams using various techniques, such as mass-directed reversed-phase high performance liquid chromatography (RP-HPLC). The candidate will work closely with scientists from Discovery Chemistry and Discovery Process Research to expedite compound design-synthesis-test iterations. Strong communication skills and the ability to thrive in a team-oriented, results-driven environment are essential. Additionally, the candidate must possess strong interpersonal skills to influence collaboration in a multidisciplinary setting.Key Responsibilities:

• Further design, develop and optimize a highly efficient purification workflow for analysis and purification of compounds from medicinal chemistry projects particularly in peptide synthesis singletons and libraries utilizing reversed phase HPLC-MS.
• Maintain high level of productivity in the laboratory setting and significant personal laboratory presence with strong adaptability to a fast-paced environment.
• Help to identify, evaluate, introduce, and apply cutting-edge purification capabilities to support peptide drug discovery and related modalities.
• Serve as a scientific expert, optimize workflows for maximum efficiency and deliver fast-turnaround purification services tailored to peptide needs.
• Ensure optimal interaction/communication and provide updates to Discovery Chemistry leadership.
• Collaborate closely with other experts in the team and across different sites, able to keep a global focus in a highly matrixed environment.

QualificationsEducation:

• PhD degree in (analytical) chemistry or engineering, or a level of experience considered equivalent to an experienced PhD trained person

Experience and Skills:Required:

• A minimum of 2 years of relevant analytical and purification experience is required. PhD degree preferred.
• In-depth knowledge and extensive experience in chromatography. Expert knowledge of modern analytical and purification techniques, such UPLC-MS and mass-directed preparative RP-HPLC.
• Experience with lab automation and compound distribution logistics related to peptide projects.
• Strong problem-solving skills for developing creative, innovative solutions and meeting project objectives are required.
• Strong written and oral communication skills, fluent in English both verbal and in writing.
• Excellent collaboration skills
