Job DescriptionSenior Research Scientist – R&DFull-time, Cambridge UK (On-site)Skills Alliance is supporting a Cambridge-based biotech that has pioneered a single-cell ageing clock with unmatched accuracy, powered by state-of-the-art machine learning and gene expression data. This innovation makes their lab testing of rejuvenating interventions x4 faster than their peers and allows for meaningful exploration of the vast combinatorial space of genes using cell simulations.We’re searching for someone who will become a key member of a high-performing group dedicated to delivering the first drugs for safe cellular rejuvenation, addressing chronic diseases, and extending healthy human lifespan. This company values ability and results, fostering a culture of respect, reliability, collaboration, challenge, and communication.As part of the R&D Department, you’ll work with the Head of R&D to build in vitro tools for discovering safe rejuvenation interventions and understanding their mechanisms offering the opportunity to accelerate the arrival of drugs for safe cellular rejuvenation.You will report directly to the CSO and work closely with them throughout. You will also collaborate with the Platform and Target Validation teams to identify areas needing innovative approaches to maximize their potential.What will you do?

  • Develop state-of-the-art in vitro methods to accelerate our discovery of safe rejuvenation genes
  • Explore the effects and mechanisms of our promising safe rejuvenation candidates

What are we looking for?Candidates must have:

  • A PhD in cellular or molecular biology or similar
  • A strong research background in either academia or industry
  • Cell culture skills and experience in establishing and optimizing mechanistic assays in vitro
  • Comfort in a highly standardized lab environment is essential
  • Experience with aseptic mammalian cell/tissue culture
  • Flexibility and willingness to learn on the job

The ideal candidate will also have experience with some of the following:

  • In vitro gene delivery, especially with viral vectors
  • Flow cytometry and FACS
  • End-to-end assay development and validation
  • Understanding of signalling pathways and regulation of gene expression
