Salary: £48,070 to £56,327 Per annum

Contract Type: PermanentAbout the Role:
We are seeking a compassionate and skilled Senior Social Worker/Approved Mental Health Professional (AMHP) to join our Mental Health Hub in Bromley. This role involves providing specialist support to individuals with severe mental health conditions, conducting mental health assessments under the Mental Health Act 1983, and contributing to recovery-focused interventions.As a Senior Social Worker/AMHP, you will be responsible for managing complex cases, offering professional leadership, and ensuring the effective delivery of care. This role is ideal for someone with a strong background in mental health social work and who holds an AMHP qualification, with a passion for promoting mental health recovery and safeguarding.Key Responsibilities:

  • Manage a complex caseload of individuals with severe mental health conditions, ensuring person-centred assessments and interventions.
  • Use your AMHP qualification to undertake Mental Health Act assessments, providing comprehensive risk assessments and legal recommendations in accordance with the Mental Health Act 1983.
  • Lead on safeguarding concerns and support mental health decision-making, ensuring the best outcomes for service users while maintaining legal compliance.
  • Provide expert advice, support, and mentoring to junior social workers and colleagues within the mental health team.
  • Work in close partnership with psychiatrists, community psychiatric nurses, psychologists, and other healthcare professionals to provide holistic, multidisciplinary care.
  • Develop, implement, and review care plans to support individuals in their recovery journey, promoting independence and community reintegration.
  • Lead on and participate in complex case reviews, ensuring service users’ voices are heard in all decision-making processes.
  • Maintain accurate and up-to-date case records in line with organisational and statutory requirements, including reports for Mental Health Tribunals, court hearings, and safeguarding meetings.
  • Contribute to the development of policies and procedures within the mental health team, ensuring service improvements and adherence to best practices.

Qualifications and Experience Required:

  • Degree in Social Work (or equivalent) from a UK university
  • Registration with Social Work England
  • Qualification and approval to act as an AMHP under the Mental Health Act 1983 (as amended 2007).
  • Extensive experience in adult mental health social work, particularly in crisis intervention and the application of the Mental Health Act.
  • Strong understanding of relevant legislation, including the Mental Health Act 1983, the Care Act 2014, and safeguarding procedures.
  • Excellent decision-making, leadership, and communication skills.
  • Ability to work effectively under pressure and manage complex and high-risk cases.
  • Enhanced DBS clearance (or willingness to undertake one).
