Brief Description

Vacancy type: Permanent, 35 hours per week, Hybrid working of 2/3 days in the office. We welcome applications from those seeking flexible or part time hours.

Are you a dynamic and experienced Contract Manager looking for your next challenge?

Join our Contract and Supplier Management team within the DDaT directorate – Telecoms Operations function and play a crucial role in managing a portfolio of telecom contracts and suppliers, ensuring performance excellence while driving value and cost efficiencies.

The main responsibilities of this role will be focused on the following Activities:

  • Supplier & Stakeholder Management:
  • Driving Value & Commercial Efficiency:
  • Contract Portfolio Management:

You must demonstrate proven experience in contract management, preferably in Telecoms or a related field.

The Telecoms Operations team is predominantly based in London and Milton Keynes and you will be based at one of those two locations. The team is predominantly based in London, and will be expected to travel most weeks to London for weekly team day.

About the role (External)

Main responsibilities:

Undertake all of the pre, post contract and Carrier management and support activity of Telecoms Contracts, including third party funded commercial contracts.

What will you be doing?

1. Establish and implement appropriate contract strategies for Telecoms contracts including effective project cost management and providing feedback into subsequent procurement processes.

2. Mangage the contracting process, negotiating agreements and to provide long term flexible sustainable business relationships whilst delivering value for money services that meet Network Rail’s needs

3. Manage the inlife contract management of Telecoms commercial agreements and supporting contracts, managing the commercial review of delivery.

4. Support maximising the Network Rail commercial position on third party funded projects and assurance that supplier contracts align with third party party contracts where appropriate

5. Manage the monitoring of all Telecoms third party funded contract reporting such that it is accurately maintained and recorded in accordance with company reporting systems. Explain all variances to predicted commercial performance and propose mitigating actions at the earliest opportunity.

6. Establishment and implemented the continuous improvement of contract process & governance..

7. Provide pro-active expertise, advice and implementation of all contract/scope changes in accordance with change control process, recommending or authorising appropriate action within delegated authority and progressing the timely resolution of contract variations.

8. Identify emerging problems, report contractual claims & support in the management and resolution of legal and/or commercial disputes in conjunction with management as appropriate.

Essential

  • Educated to degree level or equivalent
  • Experience managing suppliers and/or contracts
  • Excellent Business Acumen with strong commercial focus and financially astute
  • Excellent influencing and negotiation skills
  • Excellent written and verbal communications skills
  • Good understanding of procurement process and policies especially in government or regulated environments

Desirable

  • Commercial experience within the telecoms industry
  • Contract management experience in regulated utility / public sector
  • Managing or forecasting spend against budgets
  • Experience of negotiating third party funded contracts
  • Knowledge of 3rd party funded projects.
  • Knowledge of railway and construction industry conditions of contract.
  • Experience of resolution of construction contract disputes
