Tailoring our service to each students’ individual needs and career aspirations, we are an integral part of the student journey that starts at enrolment and continues beyond graduation.Our dedicated Teaching Fellow team are subject specialists focused on delivering student education, which is active, social, applied, and inclusive within our vibrant and varied education environment.The RoleAs Senior Teaching Fellow in Fine Art you will undertake teaching and course co-ordination while supporting the development and delivery of undergraduate, postgraduate, and professional programs and other core activities ensuring students have an effective learning experience. Senior Teaching Fellows lead on aspects of the student learning experience including the leadership of staff teams.Based within the College of the Arts and Society you will work with and lead other academic colleagues to enrich the student learning and teaching experience to ensure, as appropriate, relevant aspects of research, enterprise and professional context are embedded in modules and courses.Duties include:

  • To take responsibility for the development and delivery of learning, teaching and assessment. This can include substantial responsibility for the design, enhancement and organisation of teaching and learning, for curriculum development, or for the student experience more broadly e.g. as year tutor or course tutor.
  • To demonstrate innovative approaches to teaching and support for students through the use of a wide range of learning resources and appropriate pedagogic practice.
  • To ensure that the teaching for which you are responsible is informed by contemporary research in the relevant field and develops the ability of students to engage in debate, critical discourse and rational thinking.
  • To ensure that students have an effective learning experience by providing high quality academic guidance and advice and by enhancing their employability.
  • To lead on the development of projects that promote Fine Art, locally, regionally, nationally and internationally
  • To undertake work with a range of external partners and professional bodies/agencies in the UK and overseas.
  • To contribute to the promotion and external profile of the University
  • To work effectively as a team member, chairing committees and working groups, and where appropriate supervising or mentoring other members of staff.
  • To undertake professional development in support of teaching and applied research, and if appropriate in support of student welfare and curriculum management.

Qualifications Required

  • Master’s degree in an appropriate subject OR (if from a professional practice background) a good Honors Degree and an appropriate professional qualification and/or membership
  • A teaching qualification or extensive experience of delivering professional and/or university education
  • PhD or active membership of an appropriate professional body would be advantageous

Our Successful CandidateYou will have demonstrable experience of successful teaching at higher education levels 4-7 in Fine Art with the development and demonstration of best practice in teaching, learning and assessment consistent with our reputation and track record as a high-quality provider of teaching and learning.An experienced team leader with good level of digital fluency, you will have experience using creating teaching materials for face to face and online teaching using a VLE.
