Senior Test Automation Engineer – Telecom Team

The Test Automation Engineer would be an active member within the Software Quality Engineering Organization, responsible for providing automation and test support for the SW releases of Five9 with focus on the automation test platform, their work involves daily interaction with Developers, Architects, Product Managers and Others to understand the scope of the projects, reporting progress on testing activities, design new test automation methodologies and coaching other members of the team.

As part of the QE team, they are expected to participate in the agile development process, documenting daily the status of the test plans, troubleshot together with developers around customer complex scenarios, procure test environments to reproduce issues, analyze customer defects and reproduce them in the lab, provide demos to internal audiences.

Position is opened in Telecom team that is responsible for Five9 VoIP telecom platform. Duties include automated testing of Five9 Telecom platform, test development using Python based automated framework, result analysis, issue investigation and modernization of existing test framework.

Responsibilities:

• Automated testing of Five9 telecom platform using Python based automation framework
• New test script development for end-to-end product testing using automation framework.
• Test result analysis for executed tests using test framework logs, product logs, traffic dumps.
• Support and extending of automation framework.
• Develop new automation tools
• Lead Quality and Automation initiatives across multi-disciplinary teams, coordinating process definition, best practices and efficient usage of infrastructure.
• Coaching and supervising internal projects to enhance Quality
• Detecting of weak points in existing automated process and flows, elimination of these items and control over efficiency for automated flows and processes
• Communication with other departments like Development, DevOps, TechOps, aligning goals and priorities for Test Automation Group with company priorities and strategy
• Participate in Agile software development initiatives (standup, planning, Increment planning) to support innovation and enhancement of automation framework and tools through iteration/functionality testing
• Support and new internal tools development for automation testing;
• Communication and cooperation with other company’s teams and departments;

Required skills:

• Hands-on experience with Python 3x and/or Java
• Solid knowledge of programming techniques and algorithms (OOP, multithreading)
• Experienced user of Linux-based OSes
• Proficient knowledge of VoIP, SIP, WebRTC architecture and micro-service base web technology
• Experience with network issue troubleshooting (understanding of basic network principles, i.e. OSI model, real time protocols, network management protocols)
• 5+ years of experience in similar automation roles
• Solid knowledge of software development process and software testing methodologies
• Excellent team player with strong analytical and troubleshooting skills
• Practical experience with MySQL
• Experience with SW version control and project/bug-tracking systems (JIRA, Git, …)

Desirable skills:

• Experience in REST API automation and/or SDK type of interfaces (Java, Python, C++, etc.)
• Very strong interpersonal, reliable and communication skills
• Pro-activity in investigation of new opportunities for automation
• Experience with AWS/GCP Automation frameworks for CI/CD processes
• Experience in Test Automation projects for cloud computing solutions (private or public)
• Hands-on experience with Bash scripting
• Docker experience. General understanding of container based approach
• Hands-on experience using Sonus SBC (Session Border Controller)
• Hands-on experience using Asterisk or FreeSwitch PBX
• Solid knowledge of Web UI Automation with tools like Selenium
• Experience in Monitoring Systems (Zabbix, Logic Monitor)
• Practice with JBoss/Tomcat
• Experience with load balancers – NGINX/F5
