Job BriefYou will work directly with individuals, supporting them to gain valued social roles in their lives and participate in meaningful creative activities through developing appropriate supports including employment, developing interests of their own, connections to their community in ways that are important to them, having friends and fulfilling roles. You will also advocate on behalf of the individual with regard to their needs and preferences and support the development of an Individual Plan.Candidate Requirements
- Experience working in a person and family centered manner.
- Experience of working in an autism informed / neuro diverse manner.
- Experience in the area of facilitating and supporting people who have high and/or complex needs.
- A genuine understanding and interest in working alongside people in effecting positive opportunities and change in their lives in a meaningful way.
- The ability to listen, to see and respectfully advocate for and on behalf of the individual with regard to their needs, preferences, rights and dreams.
- Have excellent communication skills and a clear understanding of team work with motivation to deliver high quality facilitation, working alongside individuals, their families and other disciplines.
- Self-motivated and able to manage their time effectively.
- Working knowledge of New Directions standards and regulations desirable.
- Good knowledge of IT skills is preferred.
- Flexibility will be required to respond to service demands as necessary.

Other duties involved – (duties included but are not limited to the following)
- Contribute to and participate in the local service planning process and the creative development and ongoing changing needs of the service.
- Ensure a safe place of work, incorporating Western Care Association’s Dignity at Work Policy and Health & Safety requirement.
- To promote safety in all environments, in line with the Association’s practices.
- Use positive approaches to support people who may have challenging behaviour in line with Organisational practice.
Other Requirements
- Full driver’s license is essential
- All applicants will be subject to Irish Garda Vetting & Reference checks
- All applicants from Countries outside the E.U. will be required to provide relevant work authorization to take up employment in Republic of Ireland. This must be submitted along with Application
- All applicants will be required to access Overseas Police Clearance if they have lived outside of the Republic of Ireland or Northern Ireland more than 6 months since the age of 18 years
Salary ScalesSocial Care Assistant Pay Scale (Scale Range €30,288 to €42,034 per annum)– this is based on full time working hours i.e.39 hours per weekEmployment Benefits
