DescriptionSt. Michael’s House is a community-based organisation committed to providing a quality person centred service and high standard of day service to people with an intellectual disability in the greater Dublin area.To provide high-quality, person-centered services tailored to meet the specific needs of individuals who present with Autism, have an associated Intellectual Disability (ID), and require high levels of support. The role aims to empower individuals by promoting independence, dignity, and inclusion while delivering care that respects their unique preferences, strengths, and developmental goals.The Social Care Worker will work closely with individuals, their families, and multidisciplinary teams to create and implement personalized support plans that enhance quality of life and foster meaningful engagement in their communities. This includes assisting with daily living activities, supporting emotional and social well-being, and encouraging participation in therapeutic and recreational activities that align with the individuals’ goals and interests.A key aspect of the role is ensuring the safety, welfare, and rights of those supported, advocating for their needs, and fostering an environment of respect and understanding. The Social Care Worker will also contribute to the continuous improvement of service delivery by participating in training, adhering to best practices, and maintaining compliance with regulatory and organizational standards.Essential Criteria for ApplicantsBe knowledgeable of Health Act 2007 and have experience and understanding HIQA Regulations.

  • Must have prior experience of working directly with people who present with an autism diagnosis.
  • Have experience of supporting behaviours that challenge and an ability to work within the constraints of clinically led support plan.
  • Be creative, innovative and be open to working on interventions in new ways
  • Good working knowledge of New Directions standards.
  • Excellent communication skills.
  • A full clean driver’s licence and be willing to drive as part of your role. (desirable)
  • Eligible to work in Ireland

Essential Qualifications Required:

  • · QQI Level 7 Bachelor of Arts in Applied Social Studies (Disability) – Open Training College
  • · Level 7 award in Social Care/Studies delivered by an Institute of Technology, DIT or National University of Ireland;
  • · A qualification received outside the State recognised by NARIC as equivalent to the Irish Level 7 award.
  • And/or Be CORU registered as a Social Care Worker
