Project Kuiper is an initiative to launch a constellation of Low Earth Orbit satellites that will provide low-latency, high-speed broadband connectivity to unserved and underserved communities around the world.
The team
Project Kuiper’s Software Defined Networking (SDN) team will design, implement and operate the network virtualization stack and SDN control plane signaling. Our scope spans over beam planning, routing and forwarding through our SDN Controller, Agents, and Applications that provides a high throughput telecom service comprised of Low Earth Orbit satellites, customer terminals, gateways, Cloud services and terrestrial network infrastructure that connects into public and private networks.
The role
We are looking for a dynamic leader and owner to build the core networking control plane services for an advanced global telecom service via both space and terrestrial networks. As the manager of this team, you will lead a software engineering team to deliver high quality, secure and fault tolerant software used in Low Earth Orbit (LEO) satellites, ground Gateways, and Consumer/Enterprise class Customer Terminals. You will define the long-term vision for the team and its products as well as defining the team structure needed to achieve it. The candidate must have expertise with modern development practices and languages and will have demonstrated the capability to deliver best-in-class software systems that solve some of today’s hardest problems.
The position is in Redmond.

Our compensation reflects the cost of labor across several US geographic markets. The base pay for this position ranges from $166,400/year in our lowest geographic market up to $287,700/year in our highest geographic market. Pay is based on a number of factors including market location and may vary depending on job-related knowledge, skills, and experience. Amazon is a total compensation company.
