Responsibilities

  • Direct management of 4-5 employees (cattle, maintenance, pumping/hay and dead disposal/floater), as well as approximately 25 additional sow farm employees
  • Cattle herd management
  • The swine farm manure disposal management
  • Including but not limited to pumping, cutting hay, planting over-seed etc.
  • Pine straw management
  • Random bale counts, property kept free of trash/litter, camp fires not left burning etc.
  • Routine maintenance of all equipment
  • Tractors, cutters, balers, lagoon pump, reels, etc.
  • Inside sow farms: Controllers, motors, boar carts, dead carts, power washers, electrical, plumbing, welding etc.
  • Maintain sufficient inventory of parts and materials on site for equipment maintenance
  • Upkeep and appearance of grounds in a satisfactory manner
  • Responsible for all management/production issues associated with the pig production of Holton Farms 1 and Holton Farms 2
  • Ensure budgeted breed targets met
  • Ensure budgeted farrowing rates met
  • Ensure budgeted sow mortality rates met
  • Ensure budgeted born alive per sow met
  • Ensure budgeted wean per sow met
  • Ensure annual budgeted number of pigs placed met
  • Ensure expenses stay within budget
  • Responsible for all employee hiring and terminations
  • Will have to actively recruit new employees through posting flyers, Facebook ads etc.
  • Ensure new hires are properly trained in accordance with company expectations
  • Conflict resolution between employees, issuing disciplinary actions when necessary
  • Ensure all company policies are adhered to
  • Biosecurity, Animal Welfare, Attendance, Worker Safety etc.
  • Implement new policies and procedures as necessary
  • Management of the rental house program
  • Management of the grass cutting crew – external and internal
  • Must be inside at least one sow farm every day
  • Complete sow farm service reports weekly and submit to the production manager
  • Notify production manager of any problems/concerns related to sow farm productivity
  • Any other duties deemed necessary

Requirements

  • Obtain and maintain certification in South Carolina for Swine Waste Management
  • Live within 30 minutes of the farm
