Work Schedule/Work Hours: M-F 8am – 4:30pm; flexible, some weekends, some evenings – Remote Work Opportunity!

OBJECTIVE:

The FarmAble Specialist assists with coordinating program activities designed to assist veteran and underserved farmers and ranchers in Colorado with obtaining USDA resources and loans through the provision of technical assistance (TA), training, supportive services, outreach, and relationship-building in order to operate successful and sustainable farms and ranches. 

KEY RESPONSIBILITY AREAS:

  • Will assist in providing information to underserved farmers and ranchers through the provision of information on farm economics and access to USDA programs through live presentations, online learning, podcasts, and Veteran Servicing Organization (VSO) based newsletters. 
  • Coordinates interviews with farmers/ranchers, their families, and other responsible individuals; assists in completing the application for services; collects basic data and obtains appropriate additional information from other agencies.
  • Assists in scheduling, hosting & presenting to farmers and ranchers multiple financial literacy workshops, 
  • Assists in providing intensive one-on-one technical assistance and mentoring on USDA programs.
  • Assist underserved, military veteran farmers and ranchers, including beginning farmers and ranchers in owning and operating successful farms and ranches.
  • Provides services that assist in improving participation among underserved or military veteran farmers and ranchers in USDA programs.
  • Builds relationships between current and prospective farmers and ranchers who are underserved or military veterans and USDA’s local, state, regional, and National offices.
  • Works closely with the AgrAbility program and Colorado State University Extension to cross-refer participants to maximize services. 
  • Participates in the FarmAble team meetings.
  • Identifies and develops relationships with community-based and governmental agencies. Collaborates with community organizations and agencies to promote and obtain additional resources and referrals for the FarmAble program.
  • Assists with drafting reports required by Goodwill and the USDA that detail program outcomes.
  • Exercises independent judgment in making decisions related to FarmAble services; receives general supervision from the Program Supervisor.
  • The individual in this position will facilitate teamwork, track programs, and support the evaluation and reporting of program investments. They must be able to perform work and solve problems independently. 
  • Must have designated workspace and discipline to work independently from a home office. A high-speed home internet connection is required. 
  • Performs other duties as required or assigned.

No Supervision responsibilities 

QUALIFICATIONS:

Master’s degree (M.A.) from an accredited college or university and a minimum of two years related experience and/or training in rehabilitative counseling, vocational counseling, occupational or physical therapy, health care services, or a related field of disability services is required. 

Bachelor’s degree (B.A.) in the above or a related field is required. Background and proven experience in human services and/or serving the disabled and/or rural population is preferred. Candidates with agricultural degrees will be considered with relevant experience. Experience in lieu of education may be considered.

First aid and CPR certification are mandatory. 

Understands and implements proper safety protocol associated with the intellectual or developmentally disabled population.

Demonstrated computer literacy, including experience working with Microsoft Office, specifically Excel and Teams.

Driving is an essential function of this position. Per contract requirements with vehicle insurance provider: Qualified candidates must be 21 years of age and have no major traffic violations for the previous 3 years (for driving/insurance purposes). Must have reliable transportation; must also be able to operate a company vehicle.

Occasional overnight stays throughout Colorado, and out of state for continuing education.

Spanish language proficiency preferred.
