Summary of Duties:

The Senior Network Engineer serves as a highly experienced resource across all network and network security-related areas. They will be responsible for network security, design proposals, deployments, operations support, and documentation. Within this scope, the configuration and administration of all Purple network systems and security endpoints will be vital. Advanced knowledge of security solutions, operating systems, application connectivity, and communications dependencies will be required. The Senior Network Engineer will mentor junior team members and advise management. This position provides opportunities to contribute to the engineering of new systems and re-engineering of old ones.

  • Develop, implement, and maintain the network infrastructure to support a high availability network system.
  • Build, document and maintain a multi-year network roadmap that aligns with the systems and development strategies.
  • Evaluate new technologies and implement and perform POC’s as needed to support the overall direction of the network roadmap.
  • Work closely with our data center partners to ensure network reliability and stability is maintained.
  • Analyze and drive improvements in video quality and reliability.
  • Actively participate in outage calls and situations, providing an infrastructure technical resource and support to ensure services are restored quickly.
  • Gather, analyze, and drive infrastructure project requirements in support of new systems being developed and released.
  • Work with other teams to capture and analyze data to identify performance issues.
  • Ensure all network systems and endpoints are monitored and functioning properly.
  • Create, update, and maintain all infrastructure related documentation.
  • Have strong interpersonal and communication skills.
  • Maintain a positive attitude and be willing and able to work in a collaborative team environment.

Qualifications:

  • Bachelor’s degree in a related field (an equivalent combination of related education, training and experience will be considered).
  • 10+ years of a mixture of hands-on experience with Cisco Nexus/IOS, switching, dynamic routing, HA, and Infrastructure.
  • 5+ years of experience working on technical teams that solve complex problems and provide detailed technical and business analysis.
  • 5 years of experience with Cisco hardware and networks.
  • 5 years of experience creating and implementing detailed, extensive, and successful network change plans.
  • Some understanding of O365, Azure, SharePoint, and Active Directory.
  • Some understanding of H.323, SIP technology, and VoIP equipment.
  • Thorough understanding of Solarwinds monitoring tools and functions.
  • Working knowledge of TCP/IP, LAN/WAN setups, and BGP.
  • Ability to engineer, build, test, and maintain wireless networks for optimum coverage and reliability.
  • Proven understanding of a range of computer and networking hardware and software systems and related technologies.
  • Superior oral and written communication skills.
  • Proven ability to manage and/or participate in large scale projects.
  • Knowledge of computer security systems, applications, procedures, and techniques.
  • Experience is video conferencing, telecommunications systems and support and Cisco Call Manager, PBX design and administration is desired.
  • Knowledge of ASL (American Sign Language) and familiarity with deaf culture preferred.

Certifications:

Active Cisco certification is desired – CCNA or better with excellent knowledge of Cisco routers, switches, firewalls, and dial solutions.

Physical Requirements:

  • Employees may experience the following physical demands for extended periods of time.
  • Sitting, standing, and walking (95-100%)
  • Keyboarding (50-75%)
  • Viewing computer monitor, videophone, and pager requiring close vision (50-75%)
  • Lifting servers, network, and other computer equipment.

Work Environment:

  • Work is performed in a business office environment or home office.
  • Position may require infrequent travel to datacenters or call centers for onsite network maintenance.
  • On call support.
