What This Role Is…

As a Sr. Network Engineer, the primary function of this position is to be a subject matter expert and help to oversee the stability, design/architecture, implementation, monitoring, and maintenance of the organization’s network infrastructure, including telecommunications, Wi-Fi, cellular repeaters, LAN, WAN and cloud networking. This role ensures the network’s reliability, availability, security, and performance, supporting the organization’s communications needs. The Sr. Network Engineer will work with other members of the Network Services sub-department, consultants and vendors providing guidance and support to achieve departmental goals. Your contributions will ensure the success of the Network Services team within the Technology Department at CITY Furniture.

Position Title: Sr. Network Engineer

Reports To: Director of IT Infrastructure

Location: Hybrid/ Tamarac, FL

Department/Sub-Department: Technology/Technology Services

Salary Range: $110k-130k

What You’ll Do…

As a Sr. Network Engineer, your primary responsibilities will be:

  • Network Performance, Maintenance and Troubleshooting
  • Monitors network performance, proactively identify issues, and implements solutions to ensure optimal performance and minimal downtime.
  • Reviews performance reports and runs diagnostics to ensure the network and security controls are performing optimally.
  • Identifies any issues preventing optimal performance and takes corrective action.
  • Escalates critical system issues to appropriate team members for resolution and direction.
  • Ensures network is operating at 100%. Ensures all hardware and software is kept updated to latest supported and stable versions and is configured to best practices.
  • Ensures all network observability and alerting is configured for all network systems to monitor and alert.
  • Network Design and Implementation
  • Plans, designs, and implements network solutions to meet the organization’s needs, including LAN, WAN, VPN, Wi-Fi, Cellular, Satellite, VoIP, cloud, and all other telecommunications connectivity across the enterprise.
  • Implements and maintains network security measures working in conjunction with the Cyber Security team to protect against cyber threats.
  • Maintains active inventory of all network assets and configurations.

Additional duties and responsibilities as a Sr. Network Engineer:

  • Telecommunications Infrastructure Maintenance and Support
  • Maintains high level performance of the Telecommunications infrastructure. Reviews performance reports and runs diagnostic tests to ensure the network is performing optimally.
  • Installs and sets-up hardware & services. Identifies and analyzes any issues preventing optimal performance and takes corrective action.
  • Escalates critical system issues to appropriate team members for resolution and direction.
  • Vendor Management
  • Collaborates with vendors to procure network equipment and services, ensuring cost-effective solutions and timely delivery and implementation.
  • Works with vendors to resolve issues with network or telecommunications systems. Communicates information and schedules work orders.
  • Documentation and Reporting
  • Maintains comprehensive documentation of network configurations, changes, and procedures.
  • Generates regular reports on network performance and security.
  • Project Management
  • Leads network-related projects, ensuring they are completed on time, within scope, and within budget.
  • Adheres to all assigned Standard Work and Role and Responsibilities for your role.

  • Strong knowledge of network design, routing protocols, Cisco route, switch and telephony hardware, and software.
  • Proficiency in network security principles and practices.
  • Excellent problem-solving and analytical skills.
  • Ability to manage multiple projects and priorities.
  • Solid understanding of the OSI model especially layers 2,3 and 4.
  • Ability to read and analyze packet captures.
  • Good understanding of DNS and best practices for name resolution servers.
  • Ability to design and support networking within Amazon Web Services.

What’s Required…

  • Education & Work Experience:
  • Bachelor’s degree from an accredited institution preferred plus 5 years of relevant experience or minimum of 10+ years of relevant experience.
  • Experience with LAN, WAN, Cloud, and Wireless infrastructure with demonstrated field experience
  • Work Environment & Schedule:
  • Monday through Friday.
  • This role requires to be on call 24×7 for critical system issues and escalations.
  • Travel to showrooms and distribution centers is required
  • 5-10% of Travel, mostly for training and new location openings.
  • Physical Requirements:
  • Lifting up to 50 lbs,
  • Working at high heights, bending,
  • Prolonged sitting, standing, walking
  • Ladder management safety
  • Technology Requirements:
  • Knowledge of Microsoft Office Programs (i.e. Excel, Word, and Outlook, etc.)
  • Google Suite (i.e. Docs, Sheets, Slides, etc.)
  • Network Protocols and Technologies: Deep expertise in network protocols (TCP/IP, BGP, MPLS. DIA/broadband) and Cisco routing, switching and telephony hardware and software..
  • Wireless Technologies: Strong background in wireless technologies, including Wi-Fi 2.4,5,and 6ghz bands.
  • SDWAN Technologies: Experience with SDWAN technologies
  • Cloud Networking: Experience with cloud networking and hybrid cloud environments (AWS, Azure, Google Cloud).
  • Network Security: Proficiency in network security best practices, including firewalls, VPNs, IDS/IPS, and compliance with standards such as ISO 27001 and NIST.
  • Network Monitoring Tools: Hands-on experience with network monitoring and diagnostic tools (e.g., SolarWinds, Nagios, Wireshark).
  • IP Services: Knowledge of IP services like DNS, DHCP, IPAM, AAA platforms.
  • Knowledge of Microsoft 365 Suite (i.e. Excel, Word, and Outlook, etc.)
  • Helpdesk Service Management Ticketing Solutions (JIRA, ServiceNow)
  • VoIP – Cisco UCCX, Call Manager, Unity
  • Certifications / Licenses
  • Valid Driver’s License
  • Relevant certifications such as CCNA, CCNP, CCIE, CISSP, AWS Certified Advanced Networking.
