Position: Structural CAD TechnicianJob Description:The successful Structural CAD Technician will be responsible for the technical delivery of high-quality drawings and detailing for a range of structural engineering projects, with a primary focus on concrete and steel design. This role is integral to the support of engineering teams and project managers, ensuring that all designs meet both client expectations and industry standards.Key Responsibilities:
- Produce detailed CAD drawings, focusing on concrete and steel structures, using AutoCAD and potentially Revit.
- Collaborate with structural engineers to ensure accurate translation of their design concepts into detailed drawings.
- Prepare general arrangement, reinforcement, and steelwork drawings for residential and large industrial/warehousing projects.
- Work closely with other team members to meet project deadlines and ensure seamless delivery.
- Review designs and drawings to ensure compliance with industry standards and regulations.
- Modify and update drawings based on client feedback or site changes.
- Maintain up-to-date knowledge of advancements in structural detailing software and best practices.
Project Types:
- Residential Buildings: Work on various residential projects, ensuring structural stability and compliance with building codes.
- Large Warehousing/Industrial Projects: Collaborate on large-scale industrial structures, focusing on the durability and efficiency of steel and concrete designs.
Location:
- This position is office-based in Dublin 12.
Requirements:
- Minimum of 3 years’ experience as a CAD Technician in an Irish civil and structural engineering consultancy environment.
- Proven ability to assist engineers in the production and development of detailed engineering drawings for structural projects.
- Technical Skills:
- Proficiency in AutoCAD is essential.
- Experience with Revit (advantageous but not mandatory) – familiarity with BIM processes would be an added benefit.
- Experience with CADS RC (an advantage but not required) for reinforced concrete detailing.
- Solid understanding of both concrete and steel construction techniques and materials.
- Ability to understand and interpret structural engineers’ drawings, codes of practice, and manuals, though specific code knowledge is not essential.
- Attention to Detail:
- Exceptional focus on accuracy in drawings and the ability to identify and correct potential design flaws.
Personal Skills and Traits:
- English Speaking: Clear communication skills are essential.
- Time Management: Ability to manage multiple projects simultaneously, ensuring timely completion of all assigned tasks.
- Team Player: Must work well within a team environment, coordinating with engineers, project managers, and other CAD technicians.
- Strong Communication Skills: Ability to clearly communicate design concepts and technical details to colleagues and clients.
- Willingness to Learn: Eagerness to improve skills and stay updated with the latest developments in CAD software and structural engineering practices.
