GKN Aerospace Civil Business Line spends c.£800m p.a. with more than 1,000 suppliers. We will build and deploy structured, collaborative relationships with our key suppliers. Suppliers to GKN should actively compete for our business and work hard to retain it by achieving continually high levels of delivery & quality performance whilst incrementally delivering value (reducing total cost or supporting revenue growth). The Supplier Management Director is responsible for defining our approach to supplier management and implementing through our matrix organisation.
Our procurement function operates in a matrix between Site based procurement operations and Business Line Commodity and Supplier Management functions. This role leads the Supplier Management function reporting to the CPO. It will lead resources in the BL team under hard line responsibility and operational procurement teams under dotted line responsibility.How You’ll Contribute

  • Deliver a significant and demonstrable improvement in supplier performance (cost, quality, delivery) and risk (capacity and capability).
  • Define a structured, effective and efficient way of managing our supply base in order to reduce risk and deliver value
  • Implement a segmentation model (at BL and Site level) according to the specific characteristics of the supplier current / future relationship with GKN
  • Define and implement appropriate management strategies ensure the optimal level of focus, resource and effort across each segment of the supply base and with particular suppliers encompassing:
  • Contract management
  • Performance management
  • Relationship management
  • Capacity and capability assessment and development

What You’ll BringEssential:
⦁ Significant & successful experience (10 years) in delivering excellence in supplier management in complex manufacturing environments
⦁ Proven ability to define and deliver supplier management strategies – beyond delivery of ‘out of the box’ methodologies.
⦁ Effective leadership capability in direct and matrix structures. Clear evidence of delivery and taking personal responsibility to get the job done.
⦁ Significant experience with an international supply base
⦁ A demonstrated ability to build relations with a supplier network and having insight in suppliers processesDesirable:
⦁ Relevant business experience in the commercial aerospace sector, knowledge of the customer programmes of GKN Aerospace
⦁ Relevant professional and academic qualifications are highly valued.
