Sustainability Officer, covering Medical Building Portfolio across Dublin & MidlandsThis is a Hybrid / Blended model, working 35 hours weekly Monday – Friday. You will be on site approx. 2 – 3 days per week and can work from home or the offices based in either Dublin (Cherry Orchard Ballyfermot) or Offaly (Tullamore)Welcoming qualified Environmental, Energy and Sustainability Officers to assist our client, in advancing Capital & Estates Decarbonisation Roadmap, and Climate Action Strategies. You will have operational responsibility for a medical building portfolio based in – Longford, Westmeath, Offaly, Laois, Kildare, and parts of Dublin South and West WicklowAs the Regional Sustainability Officer, you will liaise with appointed sustainability and green team coordinators in each building with regard to Climate Action & Sustainability (Green Environments, Water Conservation, Waste Reduction – Infrastructure, plant and equipment) as assigned, ensuring best practices are in place.Regional Sustainability OfficerDuties and Responsibilities

  • Be the Regional Climate Action & Sustainability Lead, providing support and advice on the management of the estate including, planning and project management
  • Support, promote and actively direct Climate Action and Sustainability, Green Environments, Water Conservation and Waste Reduction initiatives to create a sustainable, low carbon and efficient health service.
  • Ensure implementation of policies and procedures including support for service managers/Green Teams within your region.
  • Support delivery of the plans including individual projects
  • Lead delivery of functions
  • Manage Budgets, public procurement i.e. tenders and deliver Climate Action and Sustainability projects
  • Interface with all Customers and Stakeholders.

Requirements

  • Hold a Level 8 (or higher) Quality & Qualifications Ireland (QQI) major academic award in (STEM) Engineering, Science, or Technology accredited by the relevant Professional Institute (Engineers Ireland etc.) OR Full Membership of the relevant professional association: i.e. Engineers Ireland
  • Ideally have Masters (STEM) or intensions regarding same (or Equivalent) for progression within the organisation
  • Have had at least 3 years’ satisfactory & relevant experience in planning, project management or delivering Climate action and Sustainability in buildings/public sector.
  • Possess a good standard of technical training and experience
  • Demonstrate pro-active communications with internal and external stakeholders
  • A significant track record of achievement of Climate Action and Sustainability in in a similar environment
  • Access to appropriate transport to fulfil the requirements of the role as post will involve travel between sites. Full Clean Driving License and Insurance
  • Good working knowledge of legislation and technical guidance including Building, Planning, Climate Action Plans and Regulations etc.
  • A knowledge of appraisal procedures, brief writing, building user consultation, healthcare, project management and of procurement process appropriate to public sector projects.
  • An effective leader and a positive driver for Climate Action and Sustainable change; transforms the vision into a framework and structures for moving forward.
  • A proven ability to Working With and Through Others – Influencing to Achieve
  • Demonstrate the ability to work independently as well as work with a wider multidisciplinary / multi-agency team on Climate Action and Sustainability in a complex and changing environment.

  • Ability to develop / implement action plans and programmes.
