Your Role

In collaboration with Radio-Canada’s editorial team, you will be responsible for the direction and presentation of programs. You will also support hosts and journalists in the preparation, production, and editing of reports.

Specific Responsibilities:

  • Participate in the design, planning, editing, and production of the newscast or segment.
  • Design, plan, develop, and direct the presentation elements and style of the newscast, ensuring they align with the plan and concept.
  • Monitor the progress of the daily plan, with particular emphasis on the development of production elements, and communicate any significant changes to journalists and the team.
  • Manage and prepare graphics.
  • Provide clear guidance to journalists, participants, and production team members throughout the show.
  • Consult and coordinate with other specialists involved in the project to ensure audio and visual consistency, as well as optimal creative and technical quality.
  • Perform the switching and mixing of audio and video elements.
  • Design audio and/or visual effects to achieve the creative and technical goals of the program.
  • Provide feedback to journalists and the team to improve their performance.
  • Finalize scripts, select program elements and/or participants, support journalists during remote reporting, and take on the role of Production Assistant if necessary.

This is an on-call position for replacement coverage or scheduled in advance. Shifts are primarily from Monday to Friday, 4:45 PM to 8:45 PM. Candidates may be called upon to work various shifts as needed (day and/or in the evening). This person will mainly be assigned to the newscasts produced at the Ottawa Production Centre but may also contribute to other television and radio programs.

Your profile:

  • A combination of education and experience equivalent to a college diploma in production and post-production techniques, supplemented by seven (7) years of relevant practical experience
  • Ability to work effectively under pressure for extended periods with multiple people
  • Editorial judgment, leadership, and decision-making skills
  • Initiative and autonomy
  • Strong communication and interpersonal skills
  • Excellent command of French, both spoken and written. Functional proficiency in English, both spoken and written is an asset
  • Good general knowledge and strong interest in a news environment
  • Ability to handle multiple tasks simultaneously
  • Comfortable with computer tools
  • Knowledge of AVID production tools, iNews, and Ross Overdrive is an asset
