Tax Consultant – Local Expertise in Somalia

Background
Farsight Africa Group seeks a qualified Tax Consultant with local expertise to support taxation-related initiatives in Somalia. The Consultant will leverage their in-depth understanding of Somalia’s tax frameworks, financial systems, and stakeholder relationships to deliver actionable insights and facilitate effective collaboration.
Key Responsibilities
1. Technical Advisory: Provide expert guidance on Somalia’s tax frameworks, policies, and regulations to align with international best practices.
2. Stakeholder Engagement: Build and maintain strong relationships with government ministries, private sector entities, and financial institutions.
3. Capacity Building: Deliver training sessions and develop practical tools to enhance stakeholder capacities.
4. Research and Reporting: Conduct research on taxation trends and provide actionable reports and recommendations.
5. Risk Mitigation: Identify risks in taxation processes and propose effective mitigation strategies, including those related to data security.
Qualifications and Experience
• Bachelor’s or master’s degree in taxation, Finance, Accounting, or a related field.
• At least 8 years of experience in tax administration or financial consulting.
• Strong relationships with government and private sector stakeholders in Somalia.
• Fluency in Somali and English.
• Proven track record of working with related public institutions in Somalia
• Knowledge of IT systems used in tax administration, including cybersecurity considerations.
• Excellent interpersonal and communication skills, with the ability to mediate and manage stakeholder expectations.

• Demonstrated ability to provide actionable insights and recommendations in complex taxation environments.
• Proficiency in tax policy analysis, financial systems, and stakeholder coordination.
