We are seeking a highly skilled and dynamic Tax Investigations & Revenue Lawyer to join our client’s esteemed Tax Team, one of the leading commercial law firms in Dublin. The successful candidate will work closely with a respected expert in the field, to provide exceptional tax advice, strategic representation, and dispute resolution services to a wide range of high-profile clients.This is an exciting opportunity for a tax solicitor or barrister to join a firm with an outstanding reputation and to play a key role in defending clients facing tax investigations and disputes with the Revenue Commissioners.Key Responsibilities:

  • Lead and manage tax investigation cases, working closely with clients to understand their needs and provide expert legal advice.
  • Represent clients in dealings with the Irish Revenue Commissioners, including responding to inquiries, managing audits, and defending against claims of tax evasion, avoidance, and other alleged breaches.
  • Advise on complex tax disputes, covering areas such as income tax, corporation tax, VAT, transfer pricing, and other direct and indirect taxes.
  • Work alongside senior colleagues to develop effective tax defence strategies, and assist in large-scale tax litigation and settlement negotiations.
  • Provide proactive advice to clients on managing risks associated with tax planning, compliance, and disputes.
  • Prepare detailed legal documents, including submissions, appeals, and court pleadings.
  • Stay up-to-date with changes in tax law and practice, ensuring clients receive the most current and comprehensive legal advice.

Requirements:

  • A qualified lawyer in Ireland with at least 4 years’ PQE in tax law, with a focus on tax investigations, tax litigation, and revenue defence.
  • Ideally a qualified Chartered Tax Advisor
  • Strong background in Irish tax law, with experience in representing clients in high-stakes tax disputes and investigations.
  • In-depth knowledge of the workings of the Irish Revenue Commissioners and the tax audit process.
  • Demonstrable experience in managing complex cases and providing strategic advice to clients facing tax disputes.
  • Excellent communication skills, both oral and written, with the ability to build and maintain strong client relationships.
  • Strong problem-solving skills and the ability to think strategically and analytically under pressure.
  • A team-oriented approach, with the ability to collaborate effectively with senior lawyers and other teams within the firm.
  • A proactive, commercial mindset and a keen interest in developing professionally in the field of tax law.
