Position Information Spring Farm Public School, is a new and contemporary school in the middle of a rapidly growing housing estate near Camden, Sydney and was established in early 2016. The school, situated on Dharawal land, currently has an enrolment of 869 students from diverse cultural, religious, and socio-economic backgrounds. Currently there is 27.2% of students who come from Language Backgrounds other than English , representing 48 different nationalities, and there are 46 Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander students.

Originally opening with 60 students in January 2016, the school has seen rapid growth alongside the expanding Spring Farm community. This growth necessitates a strong focus on the induction process for new students, staff, and community members each year.

Designed to accommodate 500 students initially, including 4 support classes which comprises of two multi-categorical classes, one severe intellectual disability class and one moderate intellectual ability class. Spring Farm Public School prioritises quality teaching and collaborative learning. The school’s mission is to provide a high-quality education that equips students with both academic skills and social competencies to thrive and contribute positively to society. Emphasis is placed on extracurricular activities in arts, sports, and leadership, fostering a well-rounded educational experience.

The school community actively engages local residents through shared facility use, making Spring Farm Public School a central hub. Academic excellence is pursued through evidence-based teaching practices, supported by rigorous data analysis and collaborative planning among staff.

With 48 teaching staff and 8 non-teaching staff in 2024, including a Business Manager and Community Liaison Officer, the school maintains a commitment to student welfare, growth, and achievement through meaningful partnerships with students, staff, and the broader community.

Specific Selection Criteria 

Approval to teach special education and/or experience teaching students with mild to severe intellectual disability, mental health, Autism Spectrum Disorder, behaviour difficulties and complex learning needs. 

Highly developed communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to work as part of a collaborative team, building positive relationships with students, staff, parents, external agencies, and members of the wider community. 

Evidence of implementing strong classroom management strategies and wellbeing programs with a proven ability to develop a positive learning environment that promotes inclusion and student success. 

Demonstrated ability to develop, implement and evaluate quality differentiated literacy and numeracy programs catering for the needs of students with disability. 

Conditions An unconditional full approval to teach is a requirement. If you do not hold a full approval to teach with the NSW Department of Education, you are required to commence the application process at the same time as you apply for this teaching opportunity.
