Technical Project Manager – Smart Buildings/BMS
Location: London
Salary: £55,000/£65,000As building systems become reliant on IT systems to operate (especially as building managers become more dependent on Internet of things devices), there is a need for IT infrastructure systems to integrate, minimizing inefficiencies, reducing energy costs, and maximizing occupancy comfort. Experience and understanding in the domain of IT systems and networking, building automation and controls, application software analytics, and cloud services is essential.What you’ll be doing as our Technical Project Manager – Smart Buildings:
- Successfully manage Smart Buildings projects in the capacity as a Technical Project Manager.
- Provide leadership and instil confidence into the project stakeholders.
- Assume overall responsibility for each project’s delivery through the formation and leading of an operational project team. This will extend to liaison with each relevant internal function (Sales, Pre-sales, Finance and Service Delivery) and (if relevant) other divisions, sub-contractors and partners.
- Apply Prince2 and/or Agile delivery principles during the projects lifecycle.
- Deliver operational excellence With the ability to anticipate potential issues and dependencies, highlight project risks, and manage the change of business and technical requirements by effectively suggesting solutions or contingency plans at the appropriate stage of projects.
- Provide support and educate GC construction team members with clear understanding where construction meets technical and its challenges. Collaborate with representatives from the projects Smart Building consultant and client teams with the intent to maintain the governance when connecting subcontracted systems and the interfaces required to operate and advance a Smart Building.
- Record and transfer lessons learned from projects back to the business through the appropriate means.
- Competently inform management and colleagues of progress on projects through internal/external meetings and weekly progress reporting, escalating issues as appropriate in a timely fashion to the Operations Manager.
- Demonstrate commercial awareness by controlling the costs paying particular attention to maintaining or exceeding initial calculated margins. Identifying the potential to up sell additional services and / or equipment to customers through project variations or additional scope requirements when appropriate, inclusive of maintenance and support uplifts.
What we’re looking for in our Technical Project Manager – Smart Buildings:
- Relevant experience in leading and delivering external technical projects to clients based on Master Systems Integrator Methodology.
- Prince2 Practitioner qualified.
- An understanding of IP networks.
- Experience of building management IP systems and integration of third-party smart technologies into new and legacy systems.
- Ability to manage the validation, witness testing and govenance of the smart building centralised network of IP building control systems.
- Understanding the importance of cybersecurity measures to prevent lP building control systems and its IoT devices from being exposed.
- Good knowledge and use of MS Office tools (Word/Excel/PowerPoint) and MS Project.
- Higher education, training and certification.
(Desirable but not essential)
- Experience in building management system protocols (BACnet, Modbus and Serial RS485)
- Competent in Tridium JACE 8000 commissioning.
- Familiar with cloud based protocols such as MQTT and payload structuring.
- Understanding and awareness of NIST.SP.800-82r2 standards and its recommendations.
- Managing and validating a global naming convention for controllers and software points (such as Haystack or Brick).
- Good knowledge and ability in Visio applications.
