Telecom Engineer

Description:

The 3D designer will be responsible for supporting our team of Professional Engineers and Designers in the design and development of high-voltage electrical systems, including substations, overhead power lines, underground utilities, and industrial plant power distribution. This will involve various tasks such as creating and drafting CAD-based drawings and 3D-models, representing electrical schematics, site layouts, 3D-model rendering of equipment, structures, power lines and other utilities. They will be working closely with a Professional Engineer (P.Eng.) who will provide direct supervision and guidance. This person does not need to have substation design exp. however it will be a nice to have. A candidate can be trained on the substation design and drafting from working with in house engineers at Xentric.

Additional Skills & Qualifications:

MUST HAVES:

• Telecom Design 2+ years exp.
• Bachelor or Post-Graduate degree in Electrical Engineering or equivalent with a focus on telecom.
• Registered, or eligible for immediate registration, with EGBC.
• willingness to do/learn design of telecommunications and networks.
• Drafting exp.
• Sheet layouts, revision control
• Knowledge of LAN/WAN systems, Structured Cabling System (SCS/OSP/ISP), VoIP, UHF-DMR, and security systems.
• Strong excel skills and word
• excellent communication – position will be client facing

NICE TO HAVES:

• Auto Desk inventor (has an add on module for substations)
• (Strong Nice To Have) Revit for modelling steel based structures (for strengths and modelling)
• Experience in wired and wireless telecom network design and implementation in an EPC/EPCM firm or client/owner environment is beneficial.
• Familiarity with SONET/SDH/DWDM, PDH, TDM, Microwave radio, fibre optic, WIMAX, VSAT, Ethernet layer 2 and 3 protocols, TCP/IP/MPLS networks is an asset.
