Job Profile Summary

We are seeking a Telecom Engineer to work with the team to review MDF/IDF’s, determine needs based on requirements, install hardware, wiring, and specialized equipment where needed. This position will be contract and on-site.

What You’ll Do

  • Inspects customer premises to ascertain available space for equipment installation.
  • Monitors progress of installation to ensure facilities are ready on specified date.
  • Knowledge, experience and understanding of network fiber/copper cabling installation.
  • Technically proficient/knowledgeable and ability to install network cable and terminations.
  • Technical ability and proficiency to review/assess and/or install/punch down & test analog telephony.
  • Site readiness assessment of locations, MDF/IDF status for network equipment installations.
  • Identify and recommend Demarc/MDF & IDF racking/tray needs & placements.
  • Troubleshoot endpoint network connectivity issues to IDF.
  • Assist with MDF/IDF installation of racks/cabinets/UPS/patch cabling.

What You’ll Need

Required:

  • Perform troubleshooting steps related to phones and associated cabling.
  • Review and Assess MDF/IDF closets
  • Terminate cabling to RJ45 jacks and patch panels
  • Identify deficiencies and offer improvement recommendations
  • Complete telephony deployments including unpacking and setup
  • Tone cabling
  • Must have a valid driver’s license, current insurance, and reliable automobile for travel to offices throughout the state as required
  • Exceptional communication and interpersonal skills are required in this role as the candidates will be dealing with State personnel of all levels

Physical Demands

  • Ability to safely and successfully perform the essential job functions consistent with the ADA and other federal, state, and local standards
  • Sedentary work that involves sitting or remaining stationary most of the time with occasional need to move around the office to attend meetings, etc.
  • Ability to conduct repetitive tasks on a computer, utilizing a mouse, keyboard, and monitors
