Telecom Engineer

Responsibilities:

• Prepares key project documentation in executing the complete Telecom and Navigation engineering scope of work as per the project requirements in meeting customer’s expectations
• Prepares telecom system concepts, schedule of deliverables and plan activities in line with overall project schedule, delegate the tasks to telecom team member assigned to the project and monitor the progress
• Leads telecom teams to prepare documents, such as design philosophies, block diagrams, room layout and deck arrangement, cable schedules and etc
• Leads telecom teams to perform system design verification, such as PAGA sound coverage, PAGA voltage drop calculation, Link budget, system redundancy cabling etc. Coordinates with other engineering team members (i.e.yard engineering, basic design and etc.), subcontractors and consultants on technical issues and design solutions in meeting project deliverables
• Leads telecom team to prepare procurement engineering documents, such as technical specifications, equipment data sheets, MTO, technical bid evaluation etc
• Participates in project meeting/technical meeting/3D model review/Workshop, attends to basic technical queries and issues related to Telecom and Navigation system design and reviews the deliverables (i.e.VCD, third party study report, workshop report etc)
• Participates and support for Digital Security review regarding the network design and security implementation
• Liaises with owners, statutory and classification authorities for design compliance review and approval on the proposed project plans in meeting project requirements
• Works with Procurement and project team to source for Telecom & Navigation vendors or Telecom System Integrator in complying with the project technical requirement specifications in meeting project deliverables
• Prepares engineering deliverable such as interconnection diagram, termination diagram, room & equipment layout in compliance with requirements of contract, classifications and regulations and coordinate with various disciplines for material handling, working environment requirement, constructability and installations, operations and maintenance, and safety etc
• Provides solutions to commercial, production and project team members on all aspects of Telecom engineering to support new-built’s/conversion fabrication, installation, testing and commissioning activities
• Performs technical studies and site survey in cooperation with production team members and Telecom & Navigation vendors or Telecom System Integrator for conversion project and/or repair & life extension project
• Performs any other duties as assigned by superior(s) from time to time

Requirements:

• Bachelor’s degree in Electrical and Electronics Engineering, Telecommunication Engineering or related engineering disciplines
• 3 years of working experience in planning, designing and construction of Telecom and Navigation system in the oil and gas industry
• Experience in telecom and navigation system design in Pre-FEED, FEED, EPCC, Conversion and Repair & Life Extension.
• Familiarity with USCG and BSEE requirements will be an additional advantages
• Excellent proficiency in English (written and spoken)
