Job Description

The Dry Utilities Engineer is responsible for the design, analysis, and optimization of utility systems within transportation projects, including telecom, electrical, and other dry utility networks. This role ensures the reliability, efficiency, and safety of dry utility systems supporting transportation infrastructure through innovative engineering solutions and strict adherence to industry standards.

Key Responsibilities:

1. System Design and Engineering:

  • Develop and implement designs for dry utility systems, including electrical, telecom, and other essential infrastructure supporting transportation projects.
  • Conduct telecommunications system studies and analyses, including coverage, bandwidth, reliability, and resilience assessments.
  • Conduct utility system studies and analyses, including load capacity, spatial layout, and system reliability assessments.
  • Design layouts and coordinate settings for utilities to integrate seamlessly with existing and new transportation infrastructure.
  • Design network layouts, redundancy schemes, and coordinate settings to meet project and regulatory requirements.

2. Project Management:

  • Assist in the planning, scheduling, and execution of telecom-related aspects of transportation infrastructure projects.
  • Coordinate with project managers, contractors, and other stakeholders to ensure telecom project milestones are met on time.
  • Prepare cost estimates, project reports, and resource allocation plans for telecom design and installation.

3. System Analysis and Optimization:

  • Perform modeling and simulation of dry utility networks to identify and address potential issues, such as load demands, connectivity, and spatial constraints.
  • Optimize system performance by implementing best practices and advanced engineering solutions in line with transportation project requirements.
  • Monitor utility system performance and recommend modifications or upgrades to maintain system efficiency and reliability.

4. Compliance and Standards:

  • Ensure all utilities designs and projects comply with relevant standards (e.g., ANSI, ITU, NEC), as well as transportation-specific regulations and project requirements.
  • Stay updated with technological advancements and industry best practices, especially in utilities and telecom applications for transportation.

5. Documentation and Reporting:

  • Prepare technical documentation, including design drawings, specifications, and maintenance procedures for telecom infrastructure.
  • Generate reports on project progress, network performance, and inspection outcomes, supporting transparent communication with stakeholders.

Qualifications

Mandatory Qualifications:

  • Education: Bachelor’s degree in Electrical Engineering, Telecommunications Engineering, or a related field.
  • Experience: 5+ years of experience in dry utilities design, telecom analysis, ideally within transportation infrastructure projects.
  • Skills:
  • Strong analytical and problem-solving skills relevant to telecom networks and dry utility infrastructure.
  • Background in similar roles for utilities projects, preferably Middle East transportation projects;
  • Effective communication and teamwork abilities.
  • Proficiency in telecom network design principles, with experience in software tools such as AutoCAD 2D/3D, Civil 3D.

Preferred Qualifications:

  • Experience with advanced utility modeling and simulation tools, particularly as they apply to transportation infrastructure.
  • Advanced in Autodesk Civil 3D or GIS software.
  • Familiarity with international and regional standards relevant to utilities and telecom infrastructure in transportation projects (e.g., ANSI, ITU, NEC).
  • Prior experience with public transportation projects or consultancy work related to dry utilities and telecom systems in transportation.
  • Knowledge of advanced telecom technologies such as fiber optics and IoT applications in transportation infrastructure.
